For sale is a 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport convertible. It is a nice no hit southern car with solid trunk, etc. and all the sheet metal it left the factory with. Total mileage is just under 63,000. Comes with its protect-o-plate and the build sheet. The ’65 Skylark Gran Sport was introduced in January of 1965 as Buick’s answer to the GTO. It came with a 401 cubic inch V-8, the nailhead, with 325 horsepower. The engine in this car has never been apart and still has excellent compression across all cylinders and uses very little oil. It was delivered with Buick’s version of the powerglide transmission, known as the ST300, and has a non-positraction 3.08 rear axle. The engine, transmission and rear end are all original to the car and are numbers matching. The carburetor is also original to the car but has been converted to an electric choke. Other options on the car are the power convertible top, power brakes, power steering, backup lights, center console, remote outside mirror and the bright reveal moldings. The red paint was applied in the last few years and is in excellent driver condition. The convertible top was replaced somewhere along the line and fits nicely with a clear rear window. The colors of red with a black top and interior are as it originally was delivered. Recent replacement items include the carpet, battery, parking brake cables, fuel and brake lines, gas tank, high torque mini starter and heater core. The original seats have been replaced with Procar lowback 1400 units mounted on the original seat tracks. What a difference - they are firm, provide great support and recline. The original seats (in nice shape but with deteriorating foam) are included. This is a very nice car. Equipped with later Buick rally wheels and new 225-70-14 Coker radial redline tires, very nice chrome on the bumpers, grill and reverse lights and some of the nicest taillights on any ’65 Skylark you have ever seen.
