Vehicle Detail
This is a nice, solid example of a very low mileage 1964 Studebaker Cruiser. It was an early production '64 - I had a copy of the production order (lost somewhere) and I it was built in October '63, in South Bend. The car was sold new at the Palmyra Motor Company, in Palmyra PA, and stayed locally in the Harrisburg area until 2011. From what I can tell, most everything on the car is original - Seats, carpeting, body, flooring, engine, radio, the works. Car has a clear PA title. INTERIORThe front seat on the drivers side has split in a few places (see pictures). I am including with the car, NOS replacement upholstery - should be plenty to recover the front seat. (see pictures)Back seat is in very nice condition - looks like it was hardly used. The dashboard is in excellent shape, no cracks or warping. Glove box has light, and the Vanity pop up mirror and cosmetic drawer. Clock does not work. Lighter does not work. Wipers and lights all work, but wipers are a little slow from non use.Radio is the deluxe AM pushbutton transistor radio, and works fineCarpeting is original - no holes, but has faded a little bit and is showing it's age.Steering wheel is 2-tone brown and white, no cracks, and the dash chrome is in nice shape with no pitting. All door latches work smoothly, the doors close and seal well, and the windows all roll up and down very easily. I'd recommend that the rubber door seals and should be replaced at some point - they will dry out after 50 years. The wind lace around the driver's door is worn, but the other 3 doors are fine EXTERIORBody is in excellent shape, no rust, no holes, no dents. Car had been repainted at some point in the original Bermuda Brown metallic. Chrome bumpers show some pitting, and the rear bumper will probably need to be rechromed if you want to get the car back to show condition.4 full hubcaps, are in nice condition, and matching Firestone whitewall tires still have some good life on them ENGINE / TRANSMISSION / MECHANICAL289 V-8 engine fires right up, runs smoothly. Carburetor is 2 barrel. Power steering works well, no leaks, excellent cooling system, thermostat and hoses were replaced in 2012, never had any issues with her running hot, and she doesn't burn much oil. When she's cold and hasn't been started for a while, she'll smoke a little, but stops once engine starts to warm up.Transmission - 3 speed B/W automatic, no clunks or hesitations, shifts smoothly. There are some leaks, due to sitting for long periods, but once I start driving her, the leaks slow way down. Work needed - I would recommend a front end job, and a new exhaust system - Currently has dual exhausts, and I don't care for the pipes the previous owner had installed, but they sound good and I never got around to fixing the. Steering tracks in a straight line, but feels like the 50 year old bushings should be replaced.Brakes - They are NOT power assisted - previous owner installed a new master cylinder back in 2007-08. Doesn't pull, car stops great, and I prefer these brakes to a Stude I had with power brakes. Any other questions, please email me. Shipping from Richardson TX is responsibility of the winner. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of winning bid by PAYPAL, cash, cashiers check or certified funds due in 7 days. She's a good old car, and someone who can enjoy her more than I've been able to lately.
