Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This 1965 Scout 800 is professionally restored with over 1,000 hours of skilled labor. Completed in the fall of 2012, "Lucielle" provides capable on and off-road travel and attracts fond attention wherever she goes. Driving her is like stepping back a half-century, except the paint is much better.Mostly original but some changes made, including:Fuel tank: Original 18 gallon metal tank replaced with 10 gallon poly tank.Steering wheel: original was broken and replaced with a Grant GT wheel. Power Steering; My wife couldn't comfortably handle parking lot turns so power steering was installed by Scoutparts.com of Portland, Oregon. Things to consider before bidding:No air conditioning. No heater (they just didn't include them back then).Driver and passenger windows are a little stiff in rolling up.4 speed, manual shift, 1st gear isn't synced.Requires patience to gas up (modern cutoff systems in gas pumps require a light touch when refueling. At most pumps you'll have to manually control the trigger as the pump tends to shut off when run automatically. If you don't enjoy people asking about your vehicle, don't bid! Can't drive anywhere without approving looks, kind comments and enjoyable conversations.Top speed listed by factory as 70mph, though we've never gone above 60.Technical Specs Length: 155.1 in.Width: 68.5 in.Height: 70.9 in.Wheelbase: 100 in.Curb Weight: 3,208 lb.Payload: 1,287 lb.Engine: 151.5 cubic inch, Comanche 4 cylinderTransmission: 3 Speed manual4 wheel drive: Part time with rear permanent, front engaged manually in off-road conditionsActual mileage is unknown. Just 600 miles logged since restoration.Pickup Truck configuration: Bed includes built-in side benches. About The Restoration Frame off. All body panels sandblasted to bare metal. New steel welded into place as needed. NO RUST REMAINS!!Body and engine work was done by Northwest Autofab of Tangent, Oregon (Mike's team did GREAT work!)Excellent paint, true to the period in look but using modern paint technology. Final DetailsOriginally purchased for my wife to use around town. I sought something fun, safe and gorgeous. Spent way more money (over $50,000) and time (3 years) on the rebuild than could ever be justified from an investment perspective. I don't regret a single dollar or day except that we're moving out of state and can't take everything with us. Lucielle will be missed! The winning bidder must arrange for pick up in Corvallis, Oregon. We can help load onto a trailer but transport and loading are at buyer's cost, risk and responsibility. Your bid is an obligationNo trades. Full payment must clear before picking up. Clear Oregon title Please ask any questions before bidding. Must be picked up within 2 weeks of auction close unless other arrangements are made.ALL PHOTOS TAKEN WITHIN 7 DAYS OF LISTING DATE. You get exactly what you see. On May-03-14 at 21:04:07 PDT, seller added the following information: To clarify any confusion, this Scout has a 4 speed manual transmission. On May-05-14 at 19:02:46 PDT, seller added the following information: 5/5/14. The following questions were asked by bidders: Q. Does the driver door hinge have a threaded hole for mounting an outside mirror?A. No. The hinge was replaced and isn't threaded for a mirror, although the restorer says that could easily be done. Q. The photos show a heater. Are you sure it doesn't have heat?A. You are right, the Scout does have heat! Sorry for the mistake. Q. What work was done to the drive train, engine, suspensions, etc.?A, I passed this question on to the shop that handled the rebuild. Here's the reply: "The engine was completely rebuilt. Clutch is new, rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt dana 44 rear axle, new large front drum brakes, power steering, new shocks, new shackle and spring bushings and u joints. the rest of the drive train was inspected and found to be in great shape and is in stock configuration."
