Vehicle Detail
1961 Austin Mini Cooper 850 Up for auction, a great RARE classic SOLID / Un-Molested Rust Free AZ CAR OUR 100% feedback speaks for itself and many of our feedback are from about 15 cars we sold just this past year here on EBay. We put more time and effort into our ads making it much easier for the potential buyers to bid with confidence. NOT MANY OF THESE CARS WHERE MADE BACK IN THE DAY and we all know NOT MANY ARE EVEN LEFT ON THE ROAD ANYMORE. I bought this car at night and drove it home on a 10 mile trip across town. All the lights worked well and it drove fine. It was a real blast to drive to be honest. I have a RHD car from Japan (Toyota Soarer) so driving a RHD car to me isnt anything new, but driving a MINI is unlike driving any other car Ive had the opportunity of driving. Its a really fun little car. SHOWS aprox 6000 miles on the odometer, my guess its 106k The car did sit for about 20 yrs before it was pulled out of the garage here In Az about a yr ago and put back on the road. DRIVETRAIN: believed to be the original 1200cc motor, it is a little cold blooded, so I use the choke of course to start it when its cold. But once warmed up, it runs pretty nice. Ive had it stall a few times in traffic but it fires right up. So maybe the carb needs a rebuild. Theres not much to them. The motor has plenty of power and doesnt smoke or make any strange noises. The exhaust is a little louder then I expected. Trans and clutch feel great too and it brakes well too. I did notice a small oil leak under the front, not sure if its from a sending unit or oil pan gasket or ? INTERIOR: genuine UK import : factory RHD car basic interior / gauges all seem to work too as do the blinkers / front seats showing wear / carpet gone top back seat missing / comes with headliner frame not currently in the car / ALL original glass / sliding door windows pop out rear windows / great as is for a driver.. Chrome inside the cars trim in very nice shape. Weatherstripping is old and not restored BUT this car comes with alot of extra parts (and I did see a box with new rubber weatherstrips in it) not sure what its all for though. Would restore nicely any color or way you want . being that this. Inside the trunk is a stock spare wheel with a new tire on it, along with some jack components. EXTERIOR: As mentioned the body and floors are extremely rust free and dry, which is normal for an Az car like this. Looks like primer on near the LR taillight, but dont see any signs of damage. Dr side door doesnt line up as nice as I think it should, could possibly be an adjustment. The blue paint or whats left of it, could possibly be original, not sure about the white top. Grill and stainless on the car looks amazing but the car also comes with some extra stainless not on the car. Im pretty sure it comes with the car. The aluminum style flares are a pretty cool touch too. Suspension: Spax shocks look to be on the front and some orange shocks on the rear. (Spax or maybe old Konis ?) 10" alloy wheels are in great shape and on them are some older Yokohama I think A008 tires. Spare tire in the wheelwell is new. Car handles amazing for its age, not sure if it needs anything immediate, but I couldnt tell. This is NOT A RESTORED or even mildly restored car. You ll see in the pics a bunch of extra parts in boxes etc layed out. All these parts come WITH the car too. Some are new, some used, but pretty sure they are all for this car. They will carefully be put in the car before it ships. Overall again, the car feels good for a daily driver This car is 90% rust free Arizona car These cars rarely even come up for sale anymore Check out ALL the pics below -----> it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics. Heres a great chance to buy the Austin youve been wanting. A well kept car, marketed well for all ebay bidders and buyers Being sold by us, a seller with excellent feedback and history With ebay and buyers. What more could you ask for ? :) There you have it, probably The BEST represented Mini's on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know exactly what you have in the end. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. ARIZONA TITLE IN HAND I wont end the auction early !! CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 14 days of auctions END ! we can no longer store cars for anyone !! Unless other arrangements have been made before auction ends. Can help with shipping outside the USA too if you need help. But keep in mind, the car cant ship until you get your title from us in hand. This car, you can see clearly what to expect with no surprises and our Feedback speaks for itself ! EMAIL US WITH ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE !! Car will obviously ship as OPERATIONAL no problem. Chances are people overseas will be bidding on this car, so we can easily get the car to the docks in CALIF for a fair price and promptly if you need the help. On Apr-29-14 at 18:28:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Another watcher of the auction sent me this info, I hope it helps with anyone wanting the car. It's a 1275cc engine and should be an 850cc engine with a gear leaver coming from the rectangular plate in the foot well I am in the UK and if it goes for the right price i will bid On Apr-30-14 at 20:14:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a bit of good news I got from the last owner who bought the car we think from the original owner. The complete motor, transmission and clutch are all basically NEW and came from I think they said MINI MANIA and its at the very least a 1275, butcould be a 1300, 1320 1340 or bigger. We didnt get paperwork with it fromthe guy who bought it about 6 yrs ago from them. But we do know, the whole pkg doesnt have more then 300 miles, yes 300 !!! Also the Spax shocks are a jack screw style and externally adjustableyou can see the tool in the pic of the trunk parts. I may try to raise it upabout an inch this week for a little more clearance and better ride. Also, the brake drums on the rear are new and wider, and the brakes onthe front up upgraded with twin cylinders. Also the car has a few new bushings front and rear. And the last owners confirmed with me that the cars paint, or whats left on itis still 90% original. Also 1 of the YOK tires is new too. Great news for those watching and bidding. The car runs great when after warming up and now I understand more why.
