Vehicle Detail

2000 Mazda MX5 Miata LS, Leather, Cruise, Automatic, AM-FM CD Cassette, Antilock Brakes, 71,069 Miles I purchased this for my daughter in November of 2012 with just over 59,000 miles on it. It drives nicely just as you would expect from a low mileage Miata. The engine is smooth and quiet and does not use oil. Likewise the automatic transmission operates quietly and shifts as new. Brakes are strong and stop the car straight. The suspension is smooth and free of noises. Front brakes were replaced 5,000 miles ago but it will need rear brakes to pass inspection. This is reflected in the opening bid price. There are no fluid leaks. Air conditioner and heater function as new. THIS MIATA HAS NOT BEEN MODIFED, HOT RODDED OR OTHERWISE ALTERED MECHANICALLY FROM THE ORIGINAL! Until September of 2013, this car lived its entire life in Texas. It is rust free but the interior does show some signs it has lived in the sunny south. I have a 2001 (not for sale!) in very similar condition--a little wear on the leather seats and slight sun chalking of the vinyl arm rests on the doors. Dash pad, leather steering wheel and dash board are excellent. Carpets are very good. My daughter brought it to the Boston area (Wenham) this past fall for college. She has only put 4,000 miles on it in the past nine months and now is looking for a car with four doors and four season handling (Miatas are a little light for snow driving!). The car will accumulate a few more miles before the end of the auction but should still be under 72,000. I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil in all my cars and change the oil every 5,000 miles. We had the timing belt, water pump, accessory belts and front engine seals professionally replaced at 66,504 miles as recommended by the factory (see the photo of the service sticker). Also replaced the radiator and alternator and had the transmission fluid changed. Car was rear ended in February of 2013 when the mileage was still in the low 60s. Was professionally repaired and repainted. Car looks and drives just as it did before the accident. Top was replaced in November of 2013. It is in excellent condition. The paint is generally in very good condition but does have a fresh parking lot scratch on the driver's side (see photo) and a few small brushed on touch ups. The passenger side mirror is made to pivot when bumped but began to fit a little loosely after being bumped by a shopping cart. My daughter secured it to its mounting post with a few wraps of electrical tape and it has held well ever since (see photo). The center arm rest/glove box hinge died awhile back and I have improvised a hinge. This is not noticeable until you open the box. The car has four nearly new tires with less than 5000 miles on them. Miatas are fun cars, especially on twisty New England roads. Add the freedom of a water tight convertible top and the ease of an automatic transmission and you have a great car for weekend get aways. The trunk will hold two large carry on bags and a few other little items stuffed inbetween. This Miata is mechanically excellent (except for those rear brake pads!) and quite affordable compared to other eBay Miatas of this vintage. And because it's not a show car or a race tuned special, you can just enjoy it without fear of hurting its value or incurring big repair bills. Though we trailered it from Texas to Massachusetts this past fall, I would have no hesitation at all about driving it cross country. I have done my best to describe this car thoroughly and honestly so I do not expect you will have any unhappy surprises. In fact, if I did not already have two other cars and a shop full of vintage motorcycle projects, I would just hang onto it. But my wife reminds me that there are limits to our space and resources. Yeah, I know, but it's such a nice car.... Feel free to use the "Ask a Question" button at the bottom of the screen.
