1981 Honda GL500 SilverWing Interstate - requires electrical repair. Ran great until last weekend, when battery caught fire. As you can see in the picture, it will need a new wiring harness, battery, etc, although I think the stator is still functional. Remainder of bike is in pretty good shape. I am the third owner; bike was garage-kept its entire life until 2012 when I purchased it. Since then it has been kept under a cover and ridden almost weekly.- Clean title - 497cc liquid cooled v-twin engine with 29,xxx miles. Carbs recently cleaned. - Recently overhauled fork and replaced seals. - Gages in great shape - Includes hard saddlebags and rear trunk. - New front tire - Includes Dowco cover and shop manual Would make a good spring project for someone with electrical know-how; good engine and frame for a cafe racer build...alternatively would be a good source for parts.The windshield is brand new- I put a new one in last week; front tire has about 400 miles on it. Rear tire has some tread left, but will need replacing soon. The rear trunk pops on in place of the passenger seat, although the mechanism that releases the rear seat doesn't work well and usually requires some additional effort to engage.The right side of the fairing is scratched (shown), but otherwise the paint is in great shape for a bike this old. Obviously the bike will have to be picked up; I can help you load it in a trailer. I'm in Washington DC.If I had time to repair this bike or part it out myself I would. It's a project for someone with more ability than mine.
