This 1978 Pontiac Trans Am was recently donated to a local charity and is for sale on their behalf. Just out of storage, we added fresh gas, and a used battery and it fired right up and even idles smoothly! Originally sold in Arizona, this car is solid and rust free, but could definitely use a restoration. The paint appears to have originally been a two tone silver and grey, but it is horribly faded. The "thunder chicken" decal is also dry and cracked, but still has a certain dignity. There is a small dent in the left front fender (behind the wheel arch) and a more serious dent on the left rear 1/4 panel. (see photo) One corner of the front spoiler is missing, and the windows have the peeling remains of cheap window tint. Inside, the upholstery is dirty and torn in a few places. The carpet will need to be replaced as there are a few stains and a hole in the driver's footwell. All controls seem to work with the exception of the power locks. And no... the AC is not cold. Mechanically, it runs well but the brakes and transmission will need attention before burning rubber again. We added brake fluid and pumped up the system, so there are brakes enough to get it onto a trailer, but not enough to drive home. The transmission also needs the fluid replaced as there is a delay before going into gear. So please don't plan on flying in and driving this car home! A great project for a muscle car enthusiast or anyone who aspires to be like the Bandit. No Reserve!
