Vehicle Detail
2006 VW Jetta TDI with 198600 highway miles. Car was purchased new by my brother who sold it to me in 2007 with about 80k miles on it. I have the original window sticker, title, and service records. The car is in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition. Fuel economy is consistently 38-40 MPG on the highway resulting in a 580 mile tank range. Maintenance was done at or before specified intervals with only VW specified fluids. Oil and filter were changed at 5k intervals, transmission and filter at 40k intervals, all other fluids at VW recommended intervals. Mechanically, all major maintenance typical to 2006 TDI has been completed with OEM or better components. At 150k, the dual mass flywheel was replaced with a LUK flywheel. At 175k, the 2nd timing belt/idlers/seals/tensioner/water pump was replaced with OEM parts. At 175k, the camshaft and lifters were replaced with Kerma TDI/Colt components (~$2000 job). At 190k, the tandem and tank fuel pumps were replaced with OEM components. A TDI Heater block heater was installed to quicken winter heat ups. The body is in very good condition. There is no body or chassis corrosion. The only flaw is a repainted right front fender (dented by me in my driveway) that was repaired and repainted. The color match is 8 out of 10. All other paint and clear coat are original and in excellent condition. A color matched, OEM type spoiler was added to the back. Low beam headlight bulbs are aftermarket HID xenons that work great. OEM type fog lights and grills were added that function as the daytime running lights. There is a Class 1 trailer hitch installed and wired for a small trailer or bike rack. The trunk has a Gorilla liner installed. The suspension is tight and quiet. Shocks and struts were just replaced and a 4 wheel alignment was done. 18" wheels (by Tire Rack) are installed. Tires are Goodyear Eagle GT's. The front 2 tires are new and the rears have 50% tread. Brakes and rotors are fine. The interior is in very good condition. Seats, carpets and dashboard are excellent. Seats are VW's leatherette that were always covered with sheepskins. A wood grain dash face was added to enhance the look of the otherwise flat black color. The interior flaw is the shrinking headliner which is also sagging in some areas. This problem is typical for 2006 Jetta's and may be changed out by a dealer or auto upholstery shop. The radio buttons have also been painted to mitigate a common problem with the original coating. The AM/FM/6 CD radio works and sounds great. Heat/AC are fine. Exhaust is original and fine. Stainless steel tailpipe tips were added. I am selling the car because I recently purchased a 2011 VW GTI. I know I will regret loosing the economy and reliability of the TDI just so I can go a little faster! Thanks for looking. Car may be seen and driven in Bridgewater NJ. In other words, I purchased 5 wheels from Tire Rack.
