Up for sale is a 1983 Jeep Cherokee Chief 2 door in very good shape for a 30+ year old vehicle. The jeep is in great running condition with several aftermarket parts including: Edelbrock 650cfm carburetor and aluminum performer intake manifold, Mallory HEI distributor, Edelbrock aluminum water pump and BJ's offroad aluminum radiator. It runs at 190-200 deg all day in the middle of the summer heat with that aftermarket water pump and radiator setup. One note: the Jeep does have an AMC 401ci. motor not the 360ci motor as listed above( eBay does not have that motor listed for this model year.) Other parts include an aftermarket polyethylene gas tank and Flowmaster 40 muffler with new tailpipe and exhaust tip. The timing and idle is set perfectly with the top end motor setup and it sounds even better with the exhaust. Both drive line U-joints have been changed as well as brakes at the four corners and the front wheel bearings have been repacked and greased. The body is in great shape for a jeep of this year and as the photos will show, the only rough spot on the entire truck is the lower rocker panel on the passenger side. All the fender flares have no rust or rot which is typical of this particular jeep. The chrome is showing signs of pitting with age and could use some re-chroming. The interior is in great shape with the dash board all in tact but, as usual with these jeeps, the only issue is cracking of the dash speaker due to sun wear. The headliner is an earlier hard piece not the later model fabric ones which tend to sag over time. It does have 35x12.50 tires and a lift kit to fit the tires perfectly and at this point I would probably recommend a new set of shocks. I am not the original owner but I have kept all receipts of the work I have had done and I do have a clean title for the truck as well. The jeep is by no means perfect and I don't claim to it being a show truck but it runs incredibly well and shows great for a real jeep of its year. I would like to see it go to a new owner who will enjoy it and keep it as well as I have tried through the years, so please only serious bidders. Good luck! Additional information: The axles are Dana 44 front, Model 20 rear, not sure of the gear ratio. The Jeep does not have AC (no AC compressor as seen in engine bay photos) and the 401 block is not the original motor (401ci was not an option in '83) As per the previous owner, it is a 401 from a '73 Javelin.
