Vehicle Detail

This VW GTI has lived in California its whole life and has been recently restored with a decent paint job, seals, drive line, suspension and interior. Almost everything has been replaced or refurbished. The rear panel has been replaced to house the sleeker narrow tail lights. There is zero rust on the body. There is a repairable dent on the rocker panel/fender underneath at the driver’s front jacking point where a technician improperly lifted the car. There are two screws on the roof near the windshield that were used I believe for a rack spoiler. The 2nd gear syncro is a little sluggish and may need attention. The actual mileage is less than what shows on the replaced odometer, however it is unknown. I believe the actual chassis mileage is around 100k. This car never had a sunroof or AC, heater only. It's very reliable. I built it for reliable performance on the street. Modified Items: The Body: * New Cashmere White single stage paint * Rear Panel was replaced with a South African Citi version * Rear Tail Lights from a VW Citi * Front and Rear Euro bumpers * New graphics kit * Front Hella grill with H4 driving lights * Front smoked Turn Signals * Power antenna * New windshield seal * New rear window, side window and door seals * door window seals and felts The Driveline: * Rebuilt original 1.8L JH engine o Rings, bearings, gaskets and seals o Head resurface and valve job o Timing belt and roller o Windage tray o Euro grind camshaft o Thermostatic oil cooler * Big bore throttle body * Urethane right motor mount insert, front mount * New radiator and all new water hoses * AutoTech Tri-Y header * New catalytic converter * Techtonics exhaust with resonator, Flowmaster muffler, and dual tip * New fuel system: pump, accumulator, fuel distributer, lines and injectors * K&N air filter, oe panel style * 020 4k Gear box fluid replaced with RedLine synthetic oil * New transaxle seals, throwout bearing * New sachs clutch and pressure plate * New axel assemblies on both sides * New wheel bearings * New front brake calipers pads, lines, disks, master cylinder * New rear drums and shoes The Suspension: * Front H&R sport springs * Front Bilstein sport struts * Front Upper Neuspeed stress bar * Front Lower Neuspeed stress bar * New Front control arms, ball joints, urethane bushings * Rear Neuspeed sport springs * Rear Bilstein shocks * Rear Neuspeed anti-sway bar * Urethane rear axle bushings * VW ‘Teardrop’ wheels from Golf 14x6 matt black * New tires The Interior: * Original sound deadener removed for weight savings * New floor padding * New carpet * New headliner in grey * New sun visors to match headliner * Recovered rear package tray * Recaro sport buckets from GLI Jetta with power tilt. * Momo 3 spoke steering wheel * Replaced gage cluster speedo/tach with white face unit * New mp3 stereo and new pioneer speakers in stock locations. * Power antenna * Viper alarm system with keyless entry and battery backup * New Hella dual horn * Replaced many relays and refurbished entire wiring harness There are also countless other bits pieces and doo-dads that have been replaced or refurbished to try to make this car almost like new. Just about everything works. I think the rear defroster is working less than perfect. The engine oil temperature gauge does not work, not sure if it’s the sender or gauge. This engine probably makes close to 115 hp (20 over stock) and is a real thrill to drive. It handles like a go-kart and takes turns like a slot car. It’s a little slow to warm up on cold days like most Mk1 VWs. It gets about 26 mpg on the freeway.
