Vehicle Detail
Classic Isuzu Trooper II- Daily Driver- No Reserve! 1989 Isuzu Trooper II. Runs, drives, steers and stops well. Being sold from private estate due to health. 70mph on the highway is comfortable (or perhaps more generally, "doable"- see GF update below), and the truck tackles hills eagerly. PA Inspected through November 2014. Current owner since 1995. Details: Relist update: Four replacement wheels in decent condition have been located and will be included in final sale at no additional cost (see pics). The ratty tires shown in the pictures will be removed prior to sale. Also, my girlfriend thought it prudent to mention that the suspension squeaks, and that the Trooper feels like a tank. Depending on your particular point of view, the tank-like ride is a pro or con. If you're familiar with these vehicles, you know what to expect. However, if you're looking at this listing and are also new to first generation Troopers and in addition find yourself thinking that maybe this vehicle will make a fine, cheap and comfortable ride travelling eight hours a day over endless miles of interstate slab- I would recommend at this time you redirect your search to "old Cadillac" or "plush Lincoln with fuzzy dice and shag." Should you instead be looking for a reliable and good-running truck with which to do honest work, you're in the right place. Alternatively, should you desire a vehicle that often can do amazing things and will get you into (and usually out of) situations that the more adventuresome among your friends would sadistically call "fun," this truck may also be a good fit. From previous listing: There are 138K miles on the efficient and economical, fuel-injected 4cyl engine backed by a smooth-shifting 5spd transmission with selectable high/low 4wd transfer case and automatic front hubs. Clutch operates easily and well, but the throwout bearing is noisy. Aggressive mud tires are in good condition and at ~70% tread. Truck has four-wheel disc brakes and will benefit from new brake pads as well as an updated exhaust prior to next inspection. E-brake pulls out a short distance but does not engage. Possibly a stuck cable. All exterior and interior lights and gauges work as they should, although the O2 light is lit on the dash. All A/C components are present, but the engine belt is off. The heater works very well without any odd smells. Vent windows operate smoothly with a minor whistle at speed coming from the driver’s side. All glass is good and the manual windows work as they should. Front and rear wipers and nozzles function correctly. An aftermarket cruise control unit was installed by the previous owner and does not function. Roof-mounted spotlight is not currently connected. Cloth interior is in fair to good condition; headliner is marked but has no tears. Carpet in cargo area may clean up with a good scrub. Frame is scaly but stout without rot or signs of damage. The sad and common story of this otherwise strong-running Trooper is written in its body and is the primary reason for its low price. Moderate to severe rust is present throughout the rockers and lower front and rear fenders- please see pics for more detail. By no means a basket case, this truck is ready to work now and can be repaired once warmer weather arrives. Expect other minor defects consistent with a well-used, but loved, 25yr old vehicle. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. Sold as-is. Local delivery within about an hour of zip code 16602 is possible. Shipping farther is at buyer’s expense and arrangement. $500 deposit due within 24hrs of auction's end. Balance to be paid upon vehicle delivery/pick-up or within 7 days from auction's end, whichever occurs first. I reserve the right to retain deposit and/or relist vehicle if you do not meet the 24hr/ 7-day deadlines or make other arrangements with me prior to the end of the 24hr/ 7-day deadlines. Zero-feedback and out-of-country buyers will not be accepted without additional contact prior to auction’s end, and even then, probably not. By bidding you agree to not waste my time, and I agree to not waste yours. Let's keep this world a pleasant place in which to do simple business in simple ways. Your notary or mine. Thank you.
