Vehicle Detail
Overview1997 Jeep Wrangler SE, 2.5L 4cyl, 5 speed manual, 166,731 miles. Clean title. No Reserve. New BFG 31” tires, air conditioning, back seat, dual front air bags, trailer hitch, power steering, rock crawler bumpers and rocker guards, premium speakers, new clutch, new soft top.Runs and drives great! Starts every time. Check-engine light is off. Drives smoothly (no wobbles) even on the highway. I’ve had this car since 2006, and I have performed excellent maintenance (with detailed records) and taken very good care of it. Its been through very little off-roading since it was my daily driver for all 8 years. DetailsTransmission: I want to talk about this at the beginning to make sure everyone is aware. When sitting at idle, there is a rattling noise coming from the transmission/bell housing area. Additionally, when coasting in gear with the clutch engaged (foot off the clutch pedal), there is a gentle scraping noise. The noises have been consistent for awhile and not getting any worse. However, I am unsure of how severe these noises might be, so I am letting the buyer know, and pricing it appropriately. Besides this, the transmission shifts perfectly into all gears. There is no grinding of gears. It does not pop out of gear. It drives perfectly fine, even at 75mph on the highway. Engine: Starts and runs great. Never had any big issues with the engine. Even when temperatures were in the teens this winter, it still started first try in the morning. No oil leaks, no coolant leaks, no power steering fluid leaks. Drivetrain/Brakes: 4wd HI and LO work properly. Brake pads have over 50% material. No brake fluid leaks. Slight seeping from rear differential, not an issue. Tires/Wheels: 31x10.50 BFG All-Terrains (BRAND NEW, over $600 value) on alloy wheels. I am thoroughly impressed with the snow traction of these tires. Locking lug nuts, even on the full size spare. Speedometer gear has been changed for 31” tires, so it shows correct speed. Body/Frame: Original paint job is still bright and glossy. There is no body rust except for some slight surface bubbling on the rocker panel guards (see pic). The frame has absolutely no rust. This Jeep has been in the south its whole life. I’ve NEVER had trouble getting a bolt undone underneath this Jeep. The front bumper is slightly bent, and there is a small crack in the fender flare and small dent in the fender from a minor fender-bender (see pics). Faint scratches on doors (see pic). Hitch: Class 3, Curt, new, wiring is in great condition and works properly. Soft top: Black with tinted windows, in great condition - no tears, no fading, all zippers work, no scratches on the windows. Folds down properly. No leaks. This top is stock from a garaged 2003 Wrangler, as is the soft top frame, which has no rust at all! Ready for summer! Stereo: AM/FM, cassette, CD. Has sound bar with aftermarket Pioneer speakers and dome light. All stereo functions work properly. System sounds great, bass is strong! The radio is a stock Jeep radio (less temptation for theft). The cassette player is a nice feature for iPod connections. Air Cond./Heat: Both work great. Fan works on all settings. Defroster setting works. The fan knob has a hairline crack in it, but it works fine and does not fall off. Seats: Folding back seat. Front seats recline and slide properly. Passenger seat swings forward for easy rear entry. Minor tear on driver’s side seat near reclining handle (every Jeep has this, see pic). Accessories: All of the following work properly: lights, brights, brake lights, turn signals, hazards, reverse lights, dome light, windshield wipers (incl. delay setting), windshield sprayers, horn, gauges, instrument cluster backlights, door locks (incl. tailgate), emergency brake, 12V socket. Includes original bottle jack & wrench. No owner’s manual.
