Vehicle Detail
HONDA GL1200 GOLD WING STANDARD - 1984 Due to a change of plans, I find that I must, unfortunately, part with my beautiful Candy Wineberry Red, 1984 factory-naked version of the Gold Wing; also known as the standard or un-faired version of this venerable classic machine. The bike has ONLY 19,419 original miles on it's boxer type, 4 cylinder, horizontally-opposed, liquid-cooled engine and has been completely maintained by one of the most respected Honda factory service departments in the state of Maine. The paint and chrome is virtually flawless and absolutely no expense has been spared to make this already fabulous machine continue to run, look and operate as if it were brand new. This bike is clean and totally rust-free.The carburetors were removed, electro-sonically cleaned and re-built to factory specifications with all new components. Regular engine oil changes have always been done and the bike's charging system works 100%. As a proper precaution, the Stator factory connector plug has been removed by a service technician and the system hard-wired. The bike has a brand new starter motor and a complete set of new, custom-braided stainless steel front & rear brake and hydraulic clutch lines, all made-to-measure and installed, along with new organic front brake pads. Tires are older Dunlop RWL's, but appear to be in good shape. The bike has an integrated chrome LED license plate-mounted combination running & brake light and an expensive Piaa headlight bulb installed. The front forks were completely polished and re-built with the complete high-end Race Tech component kit, including new dual rate springs, bushings, Honda seals, tuned valving, synthetic oil, All-Balls steering head bearings and the bike has the air-adjustable factory rear shocks that work great as well. This beautiful Gold Wing motorcycle also features a brand new, high-dollar custom-made two-tone full-leather saddle by Rick Mayer cycle seats of California, adjustable Markland folding rider and KG sliding passenger backrests with matching leather covers, new large-size River Road slant-style ballistic nylon saddlebags, factory engine guards with Kuryakyn deluxe folding highway pegs, mud guards front & rear, trailer hitch and wiring, National Cycle tinted sport-style, fork-mounted windscreen and an original KG ABS trunk which has been mounted to the rear KG luggage rack with custom, easily removable hardware. This trunk has been factory color-matched to the motorcycle by a professional paint shop. Bike starts and runs absolutely amazing, like new, and is very smooth and powerful. Having owned a number of GL1200 Gold wings in my lifetime, this one is by far the best-running I have ever ridden and the Honda dealership service technicians certainly concur with that sentiment. Not having the extra weight of the factory fairing and saddlebags, an already powerful motorcycle feels even better and handles like a dream too! This motorcycle literally passes for a nearly new bike and no one ever believes me when I tell them it is a 1984 machine (unless they are familiar with the model)! Only some 2000 of these standard GL1200's were ever made by Honda and only in the 1984, first model year of the GL1200 series - and the ONLY standard Gold Wing ever made that came with a hydraulic clutch! If you are looking for a standard Gold Wing I dare say that you will NEVER be able to find one that is nicer, cleaner and better running than this one! A lot has been invested in this bike as it has some very nice and custom upgrades done to it. So, if you have wanted one, just be sure not to miss out on this classic ride. This is a real Head-Turning Standard 'Wing that's always noticed & admired. Paint & Chrome Shine like a diamond!!
