Vehicle Detail
A great alternative to a wheelchair van or a mini van modified to carry a wheelchair. This system is popular in Europe and was developed in Sweden as a joint venture between Bruno and AutoAdapt, it uses the car seat as the the wheelchair seat. The car seat turns, moves out and down, then releases to easily slide onto and attach to a wheelchair base. When attached to the base this is a fully functional wheelchair. When loading into and out of the vehicle there are NO heavy lifting transfers. The system cost over $9,000 new and works perfectly. It has been used very little because my wife's deteriorating MS now confines her to a hospital bed. Please google "carony video" to see multiple You Tube videos of the system. This particular application in a Yukon provides four wheel drive to safely go anywhere and towing capacity of 7500 pounds to haul a boat, utility trailer or RV ... mini vans can't do that. Most wheelchair vans leave only four seats for the driver and passenger. This Yukon provides seating for seven plus the wheelchair! I have personally put 110,000 miles on the Yukon and intended to keep it forever so it has been well maintained by the local GMC dealer. ALL fluids (transfer case, transmission, differentials, radiator, etc.) were changed at 100,000 miles. These are tough SUVs and will last at least another 150,000 miles. It has the autoride self leveling system with new airbags and pump. The tires are top of the line Nokian with only one season on them.
