Vehicle Detail

1971 Honda SL-70 in Light Ruby Red. Engine number: SL70E-122637 (no punch marks identifying transmission warranty replacement). The bike starts first kick; idles, shifts and runs like new. Beautiful low usage condition besides a new paint job, seat cover and tires/tubes. The front tire is the same width as the rear at 2.75 wide (original front tire was 2.50). The bike exhibits much of it's original patina with minimal paint touch-ups on the engine. It received a complete tune up along with fork seals, brake shoes, air filter, kick start shaft and shift shaft seals. New carb float, needle & seat and gaskets. The tank is excellent and has not been cleaned or coated. No gas or oil leaks. All new correct grey cables. New chain and sprockets. Experienced people will notice that it does not have an SL-70 tail light/license bracket assembly. The original was bent and cracked (un-restorable). I have always managed to find a 1971 Honda SL-350 unit as the "backup" unit to install on KO SL-70's and personally think they look better without the huge license bracket. I also like the staggered sized holes on the top of the bracket. They fit perfectly and bolt right up at the back and will easily mount at the front (no rubbers or spacers). I personally like the original patina/condition over a 100% restored/painted bike with polished hubs and lower fork legs like so many people do with these. All original Honda parts have been used and all bolts and screws are correct and in the right places. I have added an original Honda (from another model) cable guide at the right carb attaching bolt to secure the plug wire from contacting the cylinder and also a hand made plug where the optional horn button hole is on the left side of the handlebars. Included is the original Owners Manual and it is in excellent condition. I failed to remove the tape setting the rear exhaust warning decal in the main pictures. I have added a picture with the tape removed. I believe these (all) bikes should be ridden, not parked on a shelf somewhere, but totally understand anyone's need to do as they like. This would be an easy candidate to make it "perfect" if you wish. Please note that this is being sold with a BILL OF SALE - NO TITLE. The "other" selection was not listed (like it normally is) to state that it comes with a bill of sale, so "clear" was the best choice to use. Thanks for looking! On Jan-04-14 at 16:43:55 PST, seller added the following information: I failed to mention that this was/is a rust free bike. I did not clean any off, as it was not needed. The rims, bars, upper fork legs and any other chrome had no rust. You will be able to find some on the underside of the tail light bracket, but it does not easily show. Also, the top of the headlight rim has some scratches, but not bad and there is a mild short dent on the left side of the front rim. I don't want any suprises for the buyer, so working for a complete honest listing. On Jan-04-14 at 16:47:18 PST, seller added the following information: Added for indexing and finding the add: SL70On Jan-08-14 at 15:03:54 PST, seller added the following information: I failed to mention that there will need to be some additional diagnosis on the lighting system. The lights are currently not working and testing of the front and rear bulbs proved good. It has a new battery (fuse fine) and there is not anywhere where the wire harness has been altered or tampered with. The key switch contacts look fine (second position is for lights) and I have double checked the wiring connections in the headlight shell with the wiring schematic in the back of the owners manual. Also, all grounds are clean, so possibly a bad lighting coil which are inexpensive and available from many sources. I do not have much electrical experience (or testers and related tools), so checked as far as knew how. Should not be a big deal to rectify.
