Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my beloved 1985 BMW 325e. This car has been in my family since the year 2000. I bought it with a salvaged title, which it obviously still has. It had apparently been damaged in the side/rear, which had been fixed beautifully. The engine runs well for its age. It is VERY fun to drive. Very nostalgic true BMW feel. Also, the fan is UNBELIEVABLE! The heat in this car and the power of the fan are a great combo on those cold days! You'll be cozy. Maintenance - There isn't much of a maintenance history. I didn't receive one from the previous owner, and I haven't had to do much to the car, except for fluid changes and the following: Tie rods - Alignment was off and it needed new inner and outer tie rods. These were replaced and a recent alignment was done. ~ 8 months ago.Battery - This was purchased September, 2013.Battery Disconnect System - I installed a knob-type disconnect system to keep the battery from draining if you park it for a while. (I'm an airline pilot, so sometimes it would be in the airport lot for a bit). It disconnects the negative cable from the terminal. Easy, takes 5 seconds to connect/disconnect. Notable Problems - Paint - From the pictures, you can see that the clear coat is coming up in many areas. The hood is almost untouched by this, but there are a couple small areas.Rust - A couple areas have contracted the rust bug (under the doors, at the base of the C-pillars, etc.)Air Conditioning - Stopped working a couple years ago. I bought the part that should fix it, but have yet to find a mechanic around here that I trust with BMWs. (I live outside of Detroit, domestic car capital.) The part is included.Oil Drain Plug - An oil change place used a pneumatic impact driver to tighten the oil plug. I wish I knew which one did it. This stripped the aluminum oil pan, and caused a fast oil leak. I re-tapped the oil pan and put in a larger plug, and it is now a very slow oil leak, but it is still kind of there.Tire - Not TIRES, but TIRE. One front tire is bald on the very inner portion. It desperately needed a new set of tie rods, which were installed, and it was realigned.Radio - Blaupunkt radio put in around 2002. Each year, the radio got quieter and quieter, so maybe the amp was slowly dying? Anyway, it's decent at full volume, but you may want to replace it after a short time if you listen to CDs (skips) or you like loud music. It DOES have a line in that works well.Interior Trim - A couple of trim pieces, the black plastic ones which surround the inner door handles, don't like to stay on. Maybe I'm just not doing it right, but I never want to force them.Driver's Side Door Lock - It doesn't LOCK with the key. When locking the car, either the passenger can reach over and lock the driver's door, or the driver can open the rear door and lock the driver's door from the inside. It unlocks fine with the key. Weird, I know, but I barely even notice doing it now. Included Parts - All the following parts will be included with the car.Condenser - The part needed to get A/C working.Shock Inserts - I was told I needed them, then was told I didn't.Extra Headlight (Low Beam) - One was chipped, so I bought two. That's it! Please feel free to ask me any questions you like! I'm sorry to see her go, but I'm hoping she'll go to an enthusiast who can treat her right and enjoy her. I'll miss this car!
