The E39 (5-series) BMWs received huge accolades from the automotive journalism community and quickly created a strong following among enthusiasts. The M5 (with its all new 5.0 liter V8 engine) created an almost cult collectible status overnight. A decade later, these cars still create excitement among young collectors.
Although the M5 came standard with most available options, you could still order a few more things. This M5 came with nearly every other option available:

This M5 was purchased new in December of 2000 from a Los Angeles BMW dealership. The first owner pampered the car for the first 5-years until selling it to the current owner with 32,000 miles. The current owner is a highly respected collector in the local BMW community. He has owned nearly 2-dozen BMWs over the past 30+ years and is EXTREMELY picky. In fact, it was not easy for him to purchase a used M5 as he typically buys most of his cars new. However, the originality and immaculate condition of the car made it hard to resist. Of course, he had the car inspected before purchase and it got a clean bill of health.
Over the next 7-years, no service was over-looked and oil was changed on a regular basis. Some recent services include:
New clutch and flywheel (over $3,000)
New Michelin Pilot Sport tires (less than 8k miles ago…still like new)
Recent oil service
New valve cover gaskets
New rear ball joints
Replaced oil pan gasket
Brake fluid flush
This M5 is one of the best examples on the market. The cosmetic condition is excellent. The paint is mostly original and has minimal signs of use. The car has never been tracked or abused. It has only been owned by mature adults and always garaged wearing its custom Noah car cover.
The interior is equally as nice with hardly any signs of wear. Just some minor bolster rub on the driver seat but it is very slight considering the age and miles. The car has no strange smells and there are no cracks or any other signs of abuse.
As the market continues to grow, examples like this M5 are going to diminish at an alarming rate. These cars are just so much fun to drive that most people can’t help but rack up the miles. I predict that quality and unmodified E39 M5s, such as this one, will eventually outpace the collectability of the E28 and E34 M5s.
This M5 comes with an extra key, copy of the original window sticker, current receipts, owner’s manuals, Noah car cover, battery tender, and factory tools.
