Vehicle Detail
This is a 1947 Studebaker M16 cab on a 1985 Chevy 1 ton Holmes wrecker chassis. It was featured in the July 2011 Turning Wheels Magazine. Everything Chevy adapted perfectly to the Studebaker cab, Tilt wheel, Hydroboost brakes, Power steering, Hydraulic clutch, and 3.73 axle. I installed a new 350ci GM crate engine and serpentine belt drive. I narrowed the wrecker body to look like the 40's style and built the front bumper to install a rare Studebaker grille guard. I kept the Muncie 4speed trans as it had the power takeoff to operate the winches. The winches work well but I didn't install slings because I don't tow with it. This is just my fun truck. I take it to car shows. It's a crowd pleaser. I have won several trophies for best in commercial class Besides a new engine, many other new parts were installed. Dakota Digital Gauges Recored radiator Headers New wiring Brake lines Electric fan All lights Master cylinder Brakes Fuel lines Shocks Tires 15 gal fuel cell Chrome wheel covers Headers Glass I have driven less than a thousand miles since completion. You might call this a Hotrod. It's really not a ratrod, but it does ride like a truck. This truck is titled as a Studebaker.
