Vehicle Detail
Offered is a 1994 Chevy S10 Longbed EV (Electric Vehicle). Only 10K miles! Never was a gas-powered vehicle. Professionally done by US Electricar. This was a sophisticated electric system, with a watercooled 3-Phase AC power system run by 26 x 12V batteries, 312V total. Regenerative braking capability. Here is the situation - I purchased this truck in Nov 2011 from California, had it delivered, then was never able to do anything with it due to life circumstances. It has been parked under a car cover most of the time since then. Now I need to sell it, along with my other vehicles. I am told the truck ran prior to my purchasing it, just the battery pack was weak. The delivery man said it drove on the flat, and partway up the ramp, but needed some help getting the rest of the way up the steep incline. So, it seemed to need new batteries. The lights and gauges and accessories turned on when I used the key at purchase. But now, the batteries are definitely dead from sitting so long. I am selling this as a project for someone to get working again. It has clear title. I know very little about it, except what the previous owner said in his listing. So, it is being offered AS-IS, with no warranties given. Assume at least that you would need to install new batteries. Perhaps convert to Lithium-Ion? Here is what the previous owner had in his listing in 2011: "RARE! Chevrolet S10 Electric Pickup - Longbed with only 10K original miles! I love this Truck - It is my personal vehicle. It has served me very well. I had the entire long bed space available for moving boxes - other science projects/experiments etc (it is perfect for adding solar ;-). The batteries are fully hidden beneath the bed and are easily accessed through manually tilting the bed. If you were to remove the Electric Stickers... you wouldn't even know this is an electric truck from the outside of the vehicle. The vehicle is in beautiful original condition. Here are the technical details: Factory US Electricar - AC Electric Drive System (AC systems are the most efficient systems available on the market and give you Regenerative Braking) 312Volts w/Regenerative Brakes. $12K invested. The vehicle has 10K Orig Miles (was a test vehicle for PG&E and therefore it was rarely driven_ - Excellent condition with No Accidents. It has the CA exempt HOV Lane Stickers for driving in the fast lane. It has a 700V Upgraded AC controller. It has Power Steering, Power brakes and a Tilting Bed. It has a 110V Custom Charger and is speed limited to 72MPH- it is fully Highway capable with its Single Speed Transmission (locked in 2nd gear from the factory). It is capable of a 60+ Mile Range with a New battery Pack. The current pack will need to be freshened up before being driven - It has qty: 26 -> 12V batteries giving it 110Ah @ 312V. These are AGM Heavy Duty Sealed Batteries and give the pack a total energy density of 34.3 Kilowatts hours! That's more than you usually find in any electric vehicle. A number of batteries in the pack need to be replaced - I estimate between 4-6. This is a fairly easy job as the batteries are easily accessible and are of average size, This is a best guess on the number needing replacement based on the voltage of various parts of the pack - it could be more or less. This truck will serve you very well. I have never had a problem with it and am sad to see it go ;-(" Truck will need to be towed. I removed most of the batteries to test, they are included in the sale and will be placed in the bed for easy access. I would assume they are only good to avoid core charge. Where the charger is on the vehicle, is not clear to me. But, removing the batteries I know I had to disturb a strangely wired battery management system and its sensors. This would have to be put back together to use. There are other parts included with the sale such as extra DC-DC converter, relays, and alot of other things I don't know what they are for. There is also a thick stack of folders containing tehnical information on the electric system, wiring diagrams, manuals, etc. Shipping: Item located in Dallas, TX, USA. Local Pickup Only. Payment can be via PayPal or direct wire, in addition to the policies shown elsewhere in the auction listing. Warranty and Return Policies: While feedback shows every effort is made to please fellow EBay buyers and sellers, all items must be offered AS-IS with no warranty or return guarantees implied or given. All sales are final. Buyers should ask questions they may have before bidding. Other Auction Policies: Cinebird reserves right to cancel unwanted bids such as those with excessive negative feedback. On Sep-15-13 at 09:28:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Edit 9/15: Truck has clear California title. Has not been titled or registered in Texas since I purchased in 2011.
