Vehicle Detail

One of only 19 conversions made by Jet Industries in Texas, this car is an original Jet Electrica 007, based on the Dodge Omni 024 fastback. The car was delivered from Chrysler to Jet without an engine and Jet converted the Dodge Omni 024 to electric propulsion. This car was one of fifteen cars originally purchased from Jet by the city of Philadelphia as a part of a grant program through the Department of Energy during the energy crisis in 1980. The Electrica 007 is supplied with everything you need to own and operate an electric car, including the extension cords as well as documentation. The drive power is from a GE 23hp DC series motor and a four-speed transmission is used to keep the motor within operating parameters. There are 20 Crown flooded lead acid type batteries, purchased and installed in November, 2010. Car has been kept garaged and operated only a few charge cycles since then. Fifteen batteries are in the rear and five are in the front. The cables are clean and corrosion free and were replaced with the high voltage wiring when the batteries were installed. Everything else is original.Charging is accomplished using onboard Lester chargers supplied by 220V plug behind an access door on the back of the vehicle. A long and heavy gauge charging cable is included with the sale. The cable is currently equipped with a dryer plug, but this can be easily changed to range plug or any other. The car is being sold “as is no warranty.” This car was purchased by the prior owner from a museum in Indiana in 2005, who only added a couple of hundred miles. I purchased the vehicle in 2011 and it has been stored securely in a garage and has less than 2,300 miles to date.I have been asked about range and top speed. There is a flyer in the documentation stating that the car is capable of 60MPH and 50-mile range. But life circumstances prevented me from being able to use the vehicle since purchase, so I really don't know. There are several links on a Google search where people are discussing the range and top speed of their Jet Electricas. I would take the average of several of them, and use that number for expectations. Here is an opportunity to own a historically-significant and good-looking electric vehicle. It is the best-condition Jet Electrica I have seen, having been preserved in excellent condition by museum curators and its owners.
