FULL DISCLOSURE: For sale is my 1970 Camaro. I am going to fully disclose everything I know about the car. That is not to say that I know everything about this car. I have not owned it long enough to know everything. I understand the pitfalls and anxiety of buying "blind". Many people leave out vital information and flat out lie to get a higher bid for a car. In fact, I have found that almost all do. I will not do this for my own gain. So please understand that I am being totally honest and truly intend to share anything I know with prospective buyers. I never, ever use the word "perfect". Every car has flaws if you look close enough. This car needs work and I will detail the work that I am aware of. PLEASE PRINT THIS OUT IF YOU ARE INTENT ON BUYING AND READ ALL OF IT SO THAT WE DO NOT END UP AT ODDS. When bidding on other vehicles on eBay, ask yourself what has the seller not described and why. The Story: I bought this car from a man who lied about everything except for the color of the car. I paid a lot more than it was worth. I have gotten the car to run and move but it needs more and I do not have the time and interest to continue. It is worth the effort and I am asking for far less for the car than I have in it. I will sell it at a fair price, and will NOT sell it for less. The Short description: For those of you who are very busy or have A.D.D. I will give it to you short and sweet. This is an original 1970 396 big block SS Camaro with factory air conditioning and automatic transmission that is very solid overall. It now has a 350 engine and I do not know if the transmission is original or not. Most of the air conditioning gear is missing. At the rear is a 10 bolt disk brake posi rear, brakes appear to be out of a 1981 Z-28. The front seats need to be redone. The rear seat is nice. The carpet looks new. No headliner in car but I have a new one that goes with the car that needs to be installed. The body and paint work was done poorly. There is Bondo in the lower rear rockers and quarters but lots of solid metal around it. It looks like they used filler to fill dents and holes in the lower rear quarters. The engine starts easily and runs and the car yard drives. It has power steering and power brakes. Tires and wheels are very nice – see pictures. Glass is good and the windows roll up and down nicely. The car needs electrical work, almost none of the lights or gages work. I have a clear Oklahoma title signed over to me and will provide a bill of sale from me to the new owner. There is NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND ON THIS CAR. The Long description: Body and paint: The body work and paint were poorly done. It looks great in photos and from 20 feet away and has great color and gloss but has orange peel in a few areas. The topside of the car is actually pretty smooth and very glossy but poor paint prep shows. The original color of the car was red, but a darker red than the repaint. The body is very solid overall with Bondo in the rear rockers and quarters but there is metal down to the edges in most places. I’ve seen a lot worse, it looks like the Bondo was used to fill dents mostly and fist-sized holes only at the lower rear quarters. The edges are there and the rockers are especially solid. The trunk lock was pulled out by some moron so it will need a small patch there. The trunk opens with a large flat screwdriver and the latch itself is in good shape. The doors open and close very well as does the trunk. The hood was a pin-on but I bought hinges but no springs so I didn’t stress the fiberglass hood so I use a PVC pipe as a prop rod. Easy to make something better for this. I have new SS badges for the fenders that go with the car. I do not have one for the grille. Chassis/Floors/Frame: This might be the best area of this car. The floors, subframes, and truck are very, very solid (see pictures). There are two small repairs in the floors in non-structural areas that are in the under 2 square inch size. The trunk is incredibly solid. This was a California car transferred to Oklahoma a few years back and it shows. The original body tag identifies the car as a Z27 which means it is an SS and the front springs and frame mounts are clearly big block items. Of this I am absolutely sure. Look how high the front of the car sits! The front suspension and frame mounts have never been out as far as I can tell. Interior: The carpet appears to be brand new. Front seats need to be re-done. Rear seat looks pretty good. Most of the rest of the interior is there but was just thrown in there and needs to be sorted out. Door panels are good. Dash pad is excellent. Lots of other little bits are showing their age but these are all available at reasonable cost. The gauges do not appear to work and are not mounted properly and the wiring has been monkeyed with. Drivetrain and how it drives: The engine starts right up and runs reliably. It has a brand new Holley 650 with electric choke and a brand new HEI distributor and a brand new fuel pump. It will smoke lightly (blue) once it is warmed up but not when it is cold? I believe the engine sat for a very long time and the more that I have run the engine the less it smokes – but it still smokes. The transmission shifts and yard drives nicely but is leaky. I have no idea of the age or mileage of either. Rear is a 10 bolt posi with a disk brake conversion from a 1981 Z-28. I do not know the ratio. The car yard shifts and drives fine but I have never driven it down the road. Tires, steering, and brakes: The wheels (Weld Drag Lites) and tires are excellent with very low miles. Wides (295/50R15) on the back and skinnys (165R15) on the front for that drag or gasser look. It has 4-wheel power disk brakes that work very well (again, driving around the yard). The power steering seems to work well. Glass: The glass is in good condition. The windshield looks like it may be new? The rear glass has some random scratches and the side glass has vertical scratches (both sides) due to being run up and down with worn out weatherstripping. Chrome and trim: The bumpers are decent driver quality. The grill is not perfect but decent. I only have about half of the rear window trim and all of it is off the car (see pics). The rest of the trim is decent, not great. Exhaust: This car has brand new Flowmaster dual exhaust with headers and has a very nice sound, not loud and not too quiet. Electrical: Basically all of the electrical has been hacked. The instrument pod is loose. Pretty much all of the electrical does not work. I don’t know the story. I would take the time to put a whole new harness in it rather than mess with what is there. I have a disconnect at the positive battery terminal. If it is left connected the battery will be dead within a couple of days. This really isn’t hard to deal with wiring if you start from scratch, way better than patching even a decent original harness. *IMPORTANT notice to PICKERS, FLIPPERS, and BOTTOM FEEDERS* This is NOT a distress sale. You will NOT buy this car for less than I think it is worth and sell it to someone else at a profit. PLEASE DO NOT BID AND DO NOT MESSAGE ME WITH OFFERS AND OTHER STUPIDITY IF THIS IS YOUR GAME. You will get nowhere with me so please go bother someone else. There are lots of desperate and/or stupid people out there. I am not one of them. Trades/payment: Payment is expected in 8 business days (at least a hefty deposit). I am not interested in any trades. I might consider letting someone pay me over time so long as it is understood that the car is 100% mine until it is 100% paid for. No paperwork or keys will be exchanged until I have full payment. Payment by any means other than cash or wire transfer will require waiting until the payment is clear by my measure before the car leaves my possession. This includes a bank/cashier’s check! If you intent to do anything unusual in terms of payment please discuss it with me BEFORE YOU BID. I have no need or want to rip anyone off. If you have that need or want, go elsewhere. I am a decent, honest person but also not someone to trifle with. In closing, I strongly encourage an inspection in person if possible before bidding. I will be glad to talk on the phone if there are questions. I have posted a Photobucket link with large photos to make the condition as clear as I can. Please realize that winning this auction does NOT entitle you to come out and pick the car apart and then make a lowball offer because you were not careful with your reading this description or were hoping the car would be better than described. Expect to pay what you bid and expect the car to be as described and we will have a smooth and cheerful transaction. I have been an eBay member for almost 15 years and I fully understand that eBay only exists on the trust of its members and once there is no trust there can be no more eBay. I do hope that this car finds the right owner and hope to be friends with that person after the car is theirs. This car is worth having and worth investing in. Every single part for this car is available and very reasonable and if you live in CT you can go right to Ground Up (ss396.com) in Naugatuck and have it the same day! Shipping/storage: I will do my best to hand the car off to a shipper if that helps you. I have a couple that I would recommend if that helps. I will continue to store the car inside a dry, secure and insulated steel building for up to 3 weeks after auction close, beyond that I can store it outside with a car cover and a tarp on top for up to 3 more weeks for free but after that there will be a cost unless we negotiate something up front. And I will not be responsible for the car once you own it even if it is still on my property! PLEASE ASK about this if you have special needs. The car will now sell to the highest bidder. Please be serious about your bids and be sure that your dog or kid didn't bid and please have the approval of your spouse! I forgot to mention that all zero feedback bidders have to contact me or I will remove your bids. I am happy to do business with new eBayers but I need to be sure I am not dealing with people who think bidding is a game! It is actually very expensive to list and takes a lot of time so please, please respect the bidding. I wasn't watching early on, I will watch more closely now. I am hopeful that I will no longer be bombarded with 4-5 messages a day asking for a price to end the auction early! The auction will now certainly run to the end so please bid what you want to pay and no more! I am in this car at well over $10K so if it stays where it is it's going to really hurt but I will honor any bid from here on up. And please be polite and courteous or I will ignore your questions. Some people are so rude! Thanks again!
