Vehicle Detail

*** edit 8/2 - entered actual VIN # and provided email responses (at bottom) Ready for the adventure. This is a low-mileage example of one of BMW's legendary K-bike "Flying Bricks". It is a 1988 K100LT 4 cylinder 1000cc that just turned 20k miles. I flew out to Ohio and bought this last October, and then rode it the 750 miles back to Maine in one day -- best long-distance ride I ever had -- smooth, quiet, and comfortable. My circumstances have changed, and I am no longer able to take this on the extended tour I once planned this year. It is, however, ready to turn out of the driveway and go cross-country, two-up. Details: Find out more about the K-bike reliability and low maintenance at motobrick.com. Starts, runs, brakes, shifts and corners like new. The fairing provides exceptional wind protection. This top of the line LT (Luxury Touring) model comes with additional standard equipment compared to the RT model. I forget the full list, but it includes Nivomat (self-adjusting) rear suspension; hazard lights; high windscreen; second, fairing mounted power port; factory sound system; and more. This bike has the factory low seat, specs are 29.9 inches. I am 5' 8" and am comfortable with this seat height. The bike tours like a dream. It is fast, quiet, smooth, comfortable and reasonably economical (41 MPG), and has a 5.8 gallon tank. The bike is fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, and shaft driven. It comes with factory BMW expandable tank bag, color-matched BMW hard saddlebags and BMW top case with backrest cushion. All are easily removable. Brand new Bridgestone BX-45 tires, recent BMW battery and 18,000 mile dealer service including oil change. The body and paint are in fine shape. It looks like it's always been garaged. The seat, top box pad, and tank knee pads have been recently re-upholstered and are in excellent shape. Includes original owners manual and toolkit, and receipts dating back a long time. No major repairs that I can see. It looks like the two previous owners (California and Ohio) had most or all of their services done at BMW dealerships. As far as I can determine, all parts, including regular maintenance items, are BMW-branded. Full disclosure - I describe items the way that I would like to see them described if I were a potential bidder. Drawbacks to note, the the best of my knowledge: One corner of the top case had a small gouge and someone filled it with some black plastic - see pic. This model does *not* have the BMW ABS-1 brake system. According to many owners, the ABS-1 system was prone to failure, and I intentionally sought a K-Bike that did not have ABS-1. If you are an inexperienced rider you may be more secure with an ABS system. The tank bag works fine and everything on it works, but it looks a little dated. I will replace the placeholder VIN with the actual VIN in this listing in a few days...am not near my paperwork now. ***update 7/30: in addition to the 2 BMW power ports, the bike also has a factory-installed cigarette lighter in the fairing. The 12 volt socket for this works fine and will run accessories, but the lighter unit itself doesn't appear to get warm ***** Bid with confidence. I am a 100%-positive feedback eBayer since 1999. I always auction items with no reserve; the highest bidder wins. I do not conduct side or local sales. Please, serious and committed bidders only. I have all paperwork, including title. Pickup is in Windham, Maine. If you need this delivered all or part-way, I can ride or deliver this anywhere in the lower 48 states for a reasonable expenses; I have no hesitation with riding the bike across country. Bike is sold as-is. Feel free to email with any questions. Responses to questions via email: @Jeffery -- I can meet a fly-in buyer at the Portland Airport, no problem. I could also meet someone at Boston Logan or Manchester airports for the cost of gas and tolls. @Paul H -- The motorcycle is currently registered and inspected in the state of Maine. It has been ridden this spring and summer, and there is fresh gas in the tank.
