With the launch of the 996 Coupe in 1999, it was the first Porsche that not only performed well, but also was easy enough to drive that it could comfortably be used as a daily driver. Plus, the prices of these cars are at rock-bottom, making them a tremendous value! The first generation 996s had some issues, but all those have been corrected with a complete engine build on this car less than 1,200 miles ago. All improved updates were used including the upgraded RMS (rear main seal) and IMS bearing (by LN Engineering). You get all the fun driving of a great Porsche at a bargain price without all the maintenance worries.
This Porsche was heavily optioned and had a price tag of over $102,000 new. It came with the following factory options:

The current owner purchased the car about a year ago and thought he was getting a bargain because the car “just” had a pesky little engine light on. Well, that ended up being a very expensive fix. He ended up spending over $15,000 getting the car back on the road. He employed the help of R2 Racing in the Los Angeles Valley area. The owners were two of the top mechanics at the Auto Gallery Porsche dealership. They moved on to open their own business. They discovered that the motor was having an issue of water in the oil. So, they rebuilt the entire motor. This included the following:
Update IMS bearing
Refinish heads
Complete valve job
New oil cooler
New rod bearings and rod bolts
New timing chain rails
New piston rings
While the engine was apart, they inspected the pistons, cylinders, crank, and case and found them to be in great condition. They cleaned them properly before reusing. Also, the clutch kit and flywheel were found to be near new. They cleaned and reused that as well.
Further repairs included:
New water pump
New battery
New drive belts
New A/C compressor and drier
Flush and recharge A/C system
Adjust and service power convertible top
New tires
Ultimately, this owner planned on getting this car ready for his son’s 16th birthday. However, he came to his senses and realized this is really too much car for a teenager even if it costs less than a new Honda.
The exterior of the car is in excellent condition. There are minimal signs of wear considering the miles and age. The front bumper has many chips from use. The top looks great with no tears but does have a couple stains. The interior is very nice with no tears or rips. The leather is in great shape with some mild wear on the exist bolsters of the front seats. The leather dash is great with no cracks. The headliner of the convertible top looks great. The A/C blows cold and everything appears to work properly. The navigation system is missing the CD.
This Porsche comes with most books/manuals, two keys, recent service records, custom factory car cover, spare tire, tools, jack, and wind deflector (has crack in it, but works fine).
