Vehicle Detail

You are viewing my auction for a 1992 Dodge Viper RT/10. This was the first year of the Viper, and extremely collectable (more so than all other "Gen 1" cars). Seldom will you see 1992's come available rather it be on eBay, or at auctions like Mecum's. Please keep this in mind when comparing value. With the release of the all new Viper SRT/10, values are starting to increase currently for the original. Some say this is due to them bringing back the "retro" first generation lines on the latest version. This specific vehicle is #233 of 236 original Vipers made for U.S. sales. An additional 18 were made for Canada that year, and 30 for 'export-only'. Hagerty states 285 were built the first year, I believe this figure is including the one which went straight to Bob Lutz' personal collection. This vehicle is very clean for being 21 years old and not locked up in a private collection the whole time. The CARFAX shows clean and states no accidents or damage to this vehicle. Until recently a majority of its life was in Texas and Florida. It was first sold new in Euless TX on 1/29/93. It lived in the lone star state until sold to a collector in Florida on 9/6/07. It remained with the second owner in Pensacola until purchased here in Tennessee as of 4/14/12. Feel free to email for a free detailed copy of the CARFAX report on this vehicle which confirms the above. This vehicle has been gone through to make sure it's roadworthy. This includes a visual dealer inspection performed at Jim Cogdill Chrysler Dodge Jeep here in Knoxville while replacing the fuel filter. It also has fresh oil/oil filter, and spark plugs. The tires do have about 30% +/- tread remaining. The side exhaust was professionally refinished recently with high-temp paint. This was to take care of what owners call "burn through" on the exhaust covers from them getting heat cycled over time. It has new rear speakers, as well as a new stereo head-unit with Bluetooth, Pandora, USB, WMA, and MP3 capabilities which was professionally installed last month. The stock factory stereo will be included with the car. Likewise this car has been fully detailed top to bottom. Overall I would give the paint a 4 out of 5. This is due to slight "gel coat blems" on the car. Nobody notices them, but I know they're there so need to share (I couldn't even get them to show in pictures). Also keep in mind these were hand built, so according to the Viper guys this means there are slight variances from car to car the first year. The door seals (weatherstripping) show wear from over the years. Last, the removable top has mild wear on edges. Under the front nose has typical scuffing, and the lower driver's side seat has a crack. I have more pics available upon request, or can take specific pictures if requested. Keep in mind this car has been driven and is 21 years old. It is priced accordingly. If the car was showroom new, the starting bid would be $35k+. It does have the original top and respective tote bag. The original factory side windows are also in their tote bag in the trunk (look new). You will find in the pictures that this car also comes with miscellaneous cards and manuals from original purchase, along with the factory window sticker. This car is offered without reserve, so bid it to win it! Buyer inspections are welcome. $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment via; bank transfer, cashier's check, or cash-in-hand is required before the title and car will be released. Thank you as always for looking. -Lance Here are a few videos as well: (you may need to copy and paste URL into browser window to view) http://youtu.be/JfqXFvm52Vo http://youtu.be/VpDKdQpeq9Y Here is more insight on the 1992 Viper from Hagerty Insurance: History of the 1992 Dodge Viper Originally the work of a small crew under close direction of then Chrysler President Bob Lutz, and Design Chief Tom Gale, the Viper became iconic even when it was only a concept—one first unveiled at the Detroit auto show in 1989. Today these first Vipers are worth having because they lead a line of now-legendary American supercars; provide the most “bite” with the Viper in its most savage, simple form; and serve to remind us of a time when Chrysler broke out from K-Car convention. The team designing the Viper didn't look to any existing platforms and instead custom-designed a tubular space-frame layout with center spine for the car—complemented by a fully independent suspension with Koni coil-over-shocks, and huge 13-inch brake calipers in front. And a fiberglass body saved weight. The Viper's mammoth 8.0-liter V-10 engine had originally been designed for Dodge Truck duty, but Chrysler looked to Lamborghini for help in designing a new aluminum block and heads, with some of its parts (including the two-valve-per-cylinder pushrod design) carried over. In these first Vipers, the engine was rated at 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque, with an impressive redline of 6,000 rpm. The dash to 60 mph came in less than five seconds, and top speed was originally 164 mph. At the time it hit the market, the Dodge Viper provided an amped-up sensory experience typically only found in boutique sports racers of the day, but with a more nuanced, cohesive driving experience—and of course the bodywork of a supercar. On Jul-05-13 at 09:19:12 PDT, seller added the following information:Note: A visual inspection is just that, when the car is visually inspected. This is not to be confused with a safety inspection where all tolerances are measured and routine maintenance items are graded and documented. If you would like a safety, or "pre-purchase" inspection of this car, I am happy to assist with arranging a full inspection, at the potential buyer's expense. On Jul-06-13 at 11:02:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, Thank all of you that reached out with questions this week. I also appreciate the trade offers, but this car is for sale only by owner. I must share that I walked out to the garage just now and found the right rear tire low. I'm not sure what this is from but since these tires are near needing replacement, instead of trying to fix this I will be giving the buyer a credit towards new tires instead. This vehicle will be ready to go at auction-end, which includes; a full detail and full tank of 93 oct100% gas (ethanol-free) with Sta-Bil. I also forgot to mention that the car has brand new set of high-end floor-mats (black with gray piping to match the dash. The original mats are still in great shape, and will be found in the trunk along with the windows and roof tote. Happy bidding everyone! Cheers, Lance
