Vehicle Detail

I purchased this bike from the original owner in 2006 with 45,000 miles. The bike ran fine, but the transmission had an on-off clutch. Bernie’s BMW in Chandler diagnosed it as excessive endplay in the transmission. I had them rebuild it, bringing everything back into spec. During the downtime, I decided to go Café with her. The gas tank is from a 90/S. The tail cowl/seat is aftermarket and the front fender is original, but cut down a bit. A local custom motorcycle builder did the black/checkerboard paint. I relocated the battery to under the cowl, and removed the factory airbox. I created a fiberglass cover for this area. The starter is still in there and functions normally. I changed from the Bings to the Mikuni’s with individual air filters. All fuel lines and filters are new. I added rearsets that are mounted in the passenger peg mounting holes. A custom shifting arm was fabbed to connect to the transmission. This lowers the shift rod and permits use of the kick starter. The Bridgestone tires/tubes have less than 100 miles on them. Moto-Ghost put the new tires on and checked the wheel bearings at the same time. I installed a low bar, and minimalist bar end mirrors. The throttle tube, cam gear and cables are new. The rear shocks are from a late model HD Sportster and needed only a little modification to fit the BMW mounts. The speedo started grinding about 2 years ago, and finally gave up the ghost. It is currently sitting at some random number. I disconnected the speedo cable to get rid of the noise. I am estimating that I added less than 2000 miles to her in the 7 years that I’ve own it. (5 other bikes and I don’t ride the air cooled ones in the summer). Starter, lights, hi-beams, indicator lights, and horn function as normal. Fluids get changed twice a year, often with only a few hundred miles on them. I have the owners manual, and factory toolkit. Although this bike isn’t stock anymore, I was careful not to cut or weld during the conversion. If desired, it could be returned to stock condition with the necessary parts. I have some leftover parts (Mirrors, kickstand, small bits and pieces) The bike is registered with a current AZ title and has matching engine & frame VIN numbers. She is in great mechanical and cosmetic shape. She always starts, runs strong, and has never given me any problems. She is 42 years old, will require maintenance, and I strongly recommend that prospective buyers know how and what to do with her. I will answer any and all questions, and send addtl pics if needed. I can deliver the bike to a Phoenix shipping service. It is advertised locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Cons: Left exhaust pipe has dent on bottom Headlight bezel has small area of rash on top No turn signals (not needed in AZ) The starter button ceased to work, so I utilized the takeover light flash button (right hand control) to engage the starter. (I’m not crazy about this, but since I don’t ride it much, I deal with it)
