This is a 1989 CBR600F1, the first bike with CBR on the tank. This is still the exact same bike as the Honda Hurricane from 1987 and 1988. I purchased this bike with 5,321 miles on it from the original owner in 2006. It had been sitting for 16 years. He had purchased it while in college, and left it at his parents when he left town for a job. It took me about a year to complete the restoration and have it running like new. I had the carburetors rebuilt with all new seals at my local shop after many attempts at getting it to run correctly by myself. It has a new fuel pump, (old one was gummed up), a new chain, (the old one was dried out and the orings were shot), new fork seals, (just this past winter, it started leaking last summer), and an aftermarket air filter. I installed new brake pads and new fluid last year. The tires on it are the second set of tires on the bike. They are OK to ride, but I would recommend replacing them soon. The rest of the bike is factory stock. The good: It runs great, and everything works good. I have been commuting on it to work for the past several years, about a 65 mile round trip. I've never raced it or ridden it hard. (The proof is in the tires, the front and rear are worn in the center about the same, and they have about 10,000 miles on them. The originals had a litte over 8,000 when I decided they were dangerous to run any longer due to how hard they got. The bike handles real good, and runs great. It's by far the nicest bike I've ever had. And I just put a new battery in it $50. The other just quit this spring after putting it in back in 2006. The bad: There is always something. And this bike has three problems. The first happened when I purchased the bike. The mileage was listed as 5,321.8 on the title. Should have been just 5,321. I didn't catch it till after the title came in the mail. I tried to get it changed, and it was not an easy process, so I didn't ever do it. The title shows the bike to have 53218 miles when I purchased it. (Sorry) The second happended when I had the carbs off at the shop. I had removed the tank and sat it on a piece of carpet to protect the paint. The tank ended up rolling on to the top allowing the fuel to come out and saturate the carpet. This in turn removed the paint where it was touching the carpet. So as you can see in the one photo, there is part of the CBR on the right side missing. The third is the left mirror. The base was broken when my garage door was closed on it while it was parked too close. So, the tank could use a paint job, and the mirror base needs welded back together. (Right now, I have a small replacement set that work OK mounted.)
