Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE 97 BMW M3 4DR 5 SPEED 2 OWNER 139K POLISHED LTW'S ALL RECORDS 28 MPG Up for sale is my 1997 BMW M3 4 Door 5 Speed. I purchased this car about 7 months ago from the original owner so technically it's a 2 owner car, NOT a 1 owner car but it might as well be considering the length of ownership of the original owner. I bought the car because I'm getting a 2008 BMW M3 sedan and wanted something to save on gas money for long trips I have to take (the e90/e92 BMW M3 gets pretty poor gas mileage because of the V8. Unfortunately adding the car to my policy resulted in my insurance going up almost 175 dollars a month (I thought it would actually reduce my policy since the car's cheaper and thus a lower payout in an accident) . Nonethless it's not worthwhile for me to keep it and pay that kind of monthly insurance payment along with the additional parking space in my building. The car is bone stock. The only mod on it is an Active Autowerke's shift knob that I put on and a Sony Headunit the original owner installed. I still have the original luxury package burlwood knob that will come with the car in place of the Active Autowerke shift knob. The Sony headunit is a newer one and has all the newer features. At night the buttons light up amber to blend in with the interior. The stock HK system improves a lot just from upgrading the head unit. Factory options include luxury package, heated seats, Harman Kardon Sound etc (The picture of the Window sticker has a list of factory options). I drove the car a few thousand miles over the last few months and throughly enjoyed the huge gas savings. With gas creeping up in price you really appreciate the MPG the e36 M3 gets in comparison to newer sports cars, especially 4 door sedans. Mechanically the car is sound. The thing needs a few things mechanically. The check engine light is on because the cats are going according to the previous owner. I live in FL so it wasn't an issue to me we don't have any inspectons here. You can find a replacement for around 50 dollars or you could go with something like the AA Track Pipe which is great mod for greater hp without breaking the bank. AA Track Pipe has no cats; depends on your state's inspection) The car needs a brake sensor (The abs and dsc lights flash on occasion) The heat shield is rattling with something (in the middle of the car) which produces a buzzing sound The bulb behind the odometer needs to be changed Sometimes the driver door lock won't work and you have to use the passenger side All of these are easy fixes. I put about 1,000 dollars into it. It has a fresh oil change with Mobil 1 0w40 Synthetic Oil , I put on rear tires that had more life on them (all the tires are Michelin Pilot Sport's and have around 55% tread life remaining). I got a brand new battery for it from Walmart the Evermaxx 94R which carries a 3 yr warranty. I also got OEM Polished Lightweight Wheels and sold the M Contour Wheels that came with the car. The Polished LTW's are awesome looking esecially on Cosmos Black. Lastly I replaced the alternator. The car has never been in an accident (Look at the pics for all the VIN Tags I took) Cosmetically there is rust on the trunk, rear body panel (The small piece that goes underneath the trunk; it's a piece that cuts off the body easily), and two spots on each side when you open the door and one spot on the driver door. There's scratches on the right rear pass door and on the driver side in certain areas ( I tried to capture all the cosmetic flaws). The right rear exterior has a small scrape mark. The driver side seat has two small tears in it along with normal bolster wear and the burlwood luxury package center console has a piece missing. You can either get the regular sport package one in black or I've seen people paint all the wood trim in the car Jet Black which really looks good. This car has all the service records from new, a huge stack prob 75 pages worth of service documents The car has 5 Keys .. 3 Masters (with the built in flashlight) 1 regular key and 1 valet key The car has the original window sticker The car has OEM Polished Lightweight Wheels in Staggered fitment 17x7.5 up front and 17x8.5 in the rear wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sports This is definitely a driver's car although overall it shows ok for a car that's black and a 97 model. These cars are in demand and will always be classics. The 4 Door manuals are always in demand and always will be. All electronics function as they should and the A/C blows ice cold). This auction is a NO RESERVE auciton, the highest bidder will win the car. Please only bid if you intend to follow through with your purchase. I want to get this off my insurance policy before my next payment. I HAVE TAKEN OVER 100 PICS OF THE CAR INCLUDING CAPTURING ALL THE DEFECTS PLEASE GO TO THE FLICKR LINK TO SEE ALL THE PICTURES 1997 M3 Album If the link doesn't work or you have any problems contact me through ebay I can help arrange shipping for you. If you want to fly in to pick it up make sure you have a plate to drive back with (usually your insurance company will let you use one from your old car). I have a clean Florida Title in Hand. I will only take Paypal for the deposit of $500. The rest will have to be settled with certified funds (no personal checks). I am driving it so the mileage may be higher. It's just shy of 140,000 miles as we speak. Please contact me with any questions. _gsrx_vers_486 (GS 6.5.1 (486))
