Vehicle Detail

This car was originally owned by a millionaire car collector in Montana. He started the painstaking and detailed restoration process of the car, however ¾ of the way through the full rebuild, he stopped. This guy had some money and really did know what he was doing! I’m selling it because I am starting a family, and need money to get a more family-oriented 4 door car. This has been entirely garage-kept and is in beautiful shape! Engine: The engine was a complete build from a block off a 1970 Camaro. It was bored 30 over then built with OEM crank, Rods, Pistons, and finished off on top with a Holley Systemax II Package complete with matched aluminum big valve heads, 670cfm Holley Carb, Aluminum intake manifold and Lunati Cams. Holley Spec rates this kit for 425 HP. Engine is approx 10:1 compression ratio. There are other pieces added like the chrome air filter, Holley electric high-flow fuel pump with new regulator and pressure gauge. A new high output alternator was installed as well as a new HEI Distributor and plug wires. The headers are ceramic coated and bolted to a custom 2.5” True dual mandrel bent H pipe exhaust with flowmaster mufflers and borla exhaust tips. Suspension/Brakes/Wheels The entire suspension system was replaced with new parts and new polyurethane bushings. The shocks and springs were also replaced with KYB Shocks. In addition there are new Ball Joints, Tie Rods, etc. The entire under carriage and engine bay was stripped to the bare metal, rust was repaired and new panels were welded in. It was then coated with POR-15. The underbody, engine bay, frame rails, & suspension on this car are beautiful! The front brakes have been upgraded to 4 piston disk brakes. The wheels are panasport with newer tires and look great. It has new upgraded rear sway bars, but I’m not sure the brand. Driveline: The rear end was replaced with a R200 4.11 final drive with a limited slip differential! (The 4.11 rear is from a Nissan 200sx while the limited slip is from a 1988 Nissan 300zx Turbo) The axles were converted from U Joints using the Modern Motorsports kit to the stronger and more reliable CV axle shafts from a 280zx. Interior: The interior was fitted with a brand new carpet kit & vinyl kit. Everything has dynamat insulation cutting back on the noise coming from the exhaust. The seats are from a BMW and look beautiful and fit like a glove. There is a half dash cap which looks nearly original. The center console is in place, however there are a few small missing panels for the choke controls. All of the gauges are functional and LED backlighting has been installed to illuminate them. The clock does not work due to its age and old design. The Speedometer works but is not fully accurate due to the new rear end. The heater works and the wipers work but they're slow. The lights and blinkers are also all working. The car has also been fitted with an Autometer 4 point Roll Bar to increase the structural stability of the car & improve its safety. The windshield and weather stripping were just replaced due to a rock chip. Paint: The paint of the car is in OK shape. With some color sanding and buffing it would look much better. The paint currently is somewhat faded due to its age, and there are some small rock chips & blemishes. The car was once blue, and in some of the tighter spots you can see some of the blue paint below a chip (behind door handle, corner by window). There are 2 light scratches in the white paint on the hood, and a circle where paint chipped off on the roof. There are a few other chips and nicks here and there. When I say the prior owner stopped at ¾ of the way, the only thing he didn’t do was exterior paint. This car would look amazing with new paint, but it never really bothered me. The current paint gives it a nice vintage look. Body: The body is very straight. No collision damage at all. A small dent in the lower rocker panel from an Auto Lift arm is the only noticeable thing. Any Rust?: Even though the car is a 71 it’s in VERY good shape. Again the entire under carriage and engine bay were stripped and any rusted panels were replaced with new, and everything was covered with POR-15. The doors are solid and the fenders are too; I’ve been told they were replaced just a few years ago during the restoration. There is a small bit on the back hatch area, and a few bubbles under the fuel door and in a joint on the rocker panel. Any rust spots are still solid and are not major issues. I’ve tried to take pictures showing all of the “bad” spots. The car was stored indoors so everything is in very good shape. There is very little rust on this car, especially for its age! Overall: The car looks great and drives beautifully. It corners like it is on rails, and accelerates like a dragster! It does not leak any fluids, except for a slow drip from the valve cover gasket. The oil has been changed religiously every 3000 miles with Mobile 1 synthetic, and at the start of every spring. The engine has only about 10,000 miles on it. I have receipts for over $10,000 in parts alone not including the cost of the car or labor. I will include these receipts along with a JTR Datsun V8 conversion manual for your reference. I also have a Car Cover, and random box of extra parts I’m including. Every time I drive this car I get tons of looks and often people wanting to stop and chat about the car. I love driving this car and it can be incredibly fast. When it was first built and tuned it was put on a Dyno and showed 296 ft/lb Torque and 287 HP. This was with a 3.36 rear end which I have replaced and upgraded to a 4.11 LSD Rear end, the new torque should be around ~350ft lbs. I have not raced this car, so I do not know quarter mile times, or have an estimation of times. The car weighs ~2350 lbs so that puts it with a better power to weight ratio than a C6 Corvette (Datsun 8.2 lbs per hp, Vette 9.4 lbs per hp) It is truly amazing, and I hate to see it go. I have a clear title in hand. This would be a great weekend driver, daily driver, or show car (with a little more TLC). There is a lot to this car and I’m sure I have forgotten to include some things in this description. Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me with any questions.
