FOR SALE: 1997 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 4cyl, manual trans, 106,5XX miles, sunroof, manual windows, cloth seats. NO RESERVE! I bought the car and fixed it up for my daughter to drive; she can't get used to stick shift, so this has to go. * My listing price was obtained by adding my part costs + EBay fees. $1,675 gets me out of this with merely breaking even; the listing price is NO RESERVE and you probably cant replace all of the parts I did for less money. THIS IS A GOOD DEAL FOR BASIC TRANSPORTATION!! * When I got the car, it had a non functioning auto trans, so that was swapped for a manual 5 speed. Since my daughter was supposed to drive it, the following are NEW: Windshield, rebuilt cylinder head, both front axles, front brake rotors/ pads, rear drums/ shoes/ wheel cylinders, tires, clutch cable, driver's front door lock, fuel filter, air filter, timing belt, accessory belt, water pump/ thermostat/ thermostat housing, spark plugs, fresh oil change, transmission mount, rebuilt shifter linkages, grille, front turn signal lenses, ignition switch, new battery as of 03-30-2013 (car has been sitting since November), both oxygen sensors are also new. I also added a set of used VW alloy wheels. A poorly installed remote start system was removed and all wiring repaired. Remaining issues are: intermittent operation of driver's headlight, missing cover for sunroof motor/ switches (previous owner tried to glue cover on, so there is glue residue but everything works), no reverse lights, dents on both front fenders from moving car around garage (on skates), only 1 rear radio speaker, I accidentally wired L/R speakers incorrectly so "balance" is backwards on Sony AM/FM CD radio w/ AUX input. During hard acceleration, there is a vibration from the exhaust rubbing the body. A/C does not seem to be working (recharge?). Car passed Illinois emissions test with flying colors on 11-26-2012 and there are NO check engine lights activated. I used it to drive to/from work for a while and as expected with all of the new parts, it drives well. As I am not a dealer, this car is sold AS IS, NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED, IMPLIED, OR GIVEN.
