Vehicle Detail

1956 Cadillac 7533 IMPERIAL SEDAN Formal Limo If you are inclined to restore a 1956 Cadillac, this is the one you want. This is the Formal 7533 Limo with the electric divider window and Black Leather front seat for the chauffeur. My father bought it in Bakersfield California in the early 1980s with the intention of restoring it himself. After he passed in 1988, I too was exited about the idea of rolling down the street in the backseat of the 1956 Cadillac Limo, changing radio stations from the backseat and attending functions "Corleone Funeral" style .... well, life had other plans for me and the car still sits with 70,000 original miles waiting for someone to restore her properly. The Rear "Opera Window" was missing for a time and the rear seat material was damaged. I found a perfect 1956 Limo replacement window and had it installed. Steele Rubber didn't have a listing for the rear window weather strip, so I sent them mine and they made a pattern. They sent me a new rubber that is in the trunk if needed. It started and ran beautifully in the 1980s when we acquired it, but I have not tried to start it again in 30 years. Original drivetrain (with batwing cleaner). A very original and honest car. CA Black Plates (EQE) couldn't be cooler. Body number 133 out of 955 produced.Has not been tagged since 1967 and is currently registered "Non-Op" with a Pink in my name. The body is in good shape. No major issues with rust, just the typical areas under the stainless on the lower front fenders and the wheel well in the trunk. I pulled back the carpets a little more and after aggressive tapping with a screwdriver found that the floors in some areas a very thin and will need new metal. I have found these same issues with every California Cadillac that I have restored. This car was last tagged in 1967, so it was only on the road for 11 years and has spent most of its life sitting with 70K original miles on it, so a full restoration is in order. RE Parts, I believe that all of the trim is either on it or in the trunk. There is also a full set of hubcaps and set of commercial 1956 Cadillac wheels that I had powder coated a few years ago. RE: storing the car, it is in the backyard of my home and the house is going to be on a Historical Tour in early May. I would prefer to have it gone by then. The paper work on my end is 100% clean and complete. VERY original, honest and complete car ready for complete restoration.
