Vehicle Detail
This is a very rare, matching #'s early 71' AMC Javelin AMX with a 360 engine & shift command 3spd transmission with the desirable go package option. Built at the Kenosha, WI plant. If you know this vehicle, then you already know how incredibly unique it is. The 71' AMX won 8 out of 10 races at the 71' SCCA Trans-AM Championship! AMC only made 2,054 AMX's in 1971 and I doubt there are more than a couple hundred that have survived. It features the go package option which is the air column reduction hood, rimblow steering wheel, 390 posi & tic toc clock. Car runs and drives well, but needs some thing's here and there as you would expect with any 42yr old muscle car. Originally a black on burgundy car, but now it is matador red with the oem burgundy interior. For what I'm asking on this car, I feel that it's a fantastic investment for the next owner. I will list as many details that I can think of. The Good: * You will be the only person with this car and everyone that knows muscle cars will stop to talk your ear off about it. People will be amazed that they are even looking at this car in person. * Brand new brakes - new calipers, pads, rotors, drums and master cylinder. Stops on a dime with no brake noise. * No rust and a VERY straight body * Brand new front suspension parts - all OEM * All original emblems and authentic AMX parts are present on the vehicle (this is very uncommon since most AMX's were debadged and sold to people trying to clone Javelins) * Brand new Indy tires with very hard to find original rally wheels and volcano centers and trim rings * Windows roll up and down nicely * Rear deck is perfect with desirable rear defroster * New alpine stereo and speakers* Custom aluminum shifter (The OEM shift handles were notorious for breaking, so I had an aluminum one made and it looks awesome) * Seats are very nice and original. * Brand new carpet with sound dampening underneath (no rust on floor pans with pictures available upon request) * High output alternator * New 3 core, aluminum radiator & 7 blade racing fan * Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock valve cover gaskets & Holley 4 barrel carburetor * Plugs, oil, wires are all newer along with many other engine components. * Does not burn any oil * Car comes with a bunch of extras (ie: original valve covers, fan blade, OEM wiring harness, etc) The Not So Good:* Odometer reads 32,000 miles, but I suspect the mileage is 132K or maybe 232, but I doubt it. * Paint is faded, so it requires polishing and waxing, but the car looks great from 10ft away. It's time for new paint but depending on your expectations this may not be an issue for you. There are some little scratches and what not, but nothing serious. * The carburetor seems rich coming out of first gear with a fast acceleration. It runs great, but a seasoned car guy may notice this, so I want to mention it. * A/C car, but the compressor is removed. (it comes with the car) * Dash gauges and gauge lights work with positive power to them, but not all gauges are hooked up and working. (ie: speedo & rpm need to be connected) * A little bit of oil leaks, but not enough to add oil between changes. It does NOT burn any oil. All thing's considered, this is an awesome car and I'm not asking much for such a desired muscle car. I've had it for about four years and I've enjoyed her very much, but now I have two young children and other priorities that don't allow me to play with AMX. She isn't a restored trailer queen, but this is a nice muscle car that you simply won't see again at this low reserve price. I encourage you to research this particular vehicle before you contact me. Contact me with questions and I'll do my best to answer them. I have a clean title in hand. Thank you! AndrewOn Apr-09-13 at 07:11:53 PDT, seller added the following information: After discussing the AMX with an expert last night, I've learned that the original exterior color was not black. It was called Quick Silver Metallic. I've uploaded a picture of the door tag. You can also see in the pictures of the floors that the original exterior color was silver. Here is a link that shows you how to decode it. http://www.javelinamx.com/javhome/71amx/amx71.htm Thanks! Andrew
