Vehicle Detail

1974 Maverick Grabber LOW FAIR RESERVE - unlike similar cars Ive seen on ebay. We want to move our cars to new homes. Has aprox 125k original miles, all driven in the dry Azclimate, with a DSO code of 75 Phx. NOT JUST A MAVERICK, but a factory V8 Grabber car !! Cragers will not come with the car shown in picsBUT the very last pic shows the 14" more original style Aluminum dish mags w/ tires will come on the car . This car is a driver and has been being used to putt around town a few days a week for the last several yrs.A few months ago, the transmission started taking longer to kick in when cold, so probably in time it will need a trans rebuild. But its not stopped anyone from driving it around. If you let the trans warm up a 5 before taking off it feels fine and works like it should all day. A nice unmolested very original Az rust free car which are getting more rare by the year. Great options like A/C and 302 V8 make it more collectable. Although some of the AC stuff was removed over the yrs the parts taken off (compressor, brackets, lines etc) do come with the car loose in the trunk by the spare. Original Philco AM radio also in the trunk loose. INTERIOR:some sun damage as you may expect for an Az vehicle. Although some heat damage has taken its toll over the yrs, plastic pieces brittle and vinyl showing their age. But its very complete, comfortable for a daily driver. All the parts to restore it are readily available thru a few sources online. The carpet was pretty bad, so I removed the majority of it so I could take some pics of the nice solid floorboards. Exterior: White paint is 90% original the best I can tell. The original vinyl top was removed about 10 yrs ago and the owner primered the roof to help protect it. No rust. For several yrs the car sat outside next to a tree and the pass side paint got some pock damage in a few areas too. So they primered that also. I see no sign of any bondo or accident damage in the primed areas. But the paint was worn off almost to bare metal which is why the primer was applied. Most of the original GRABBER decals are still intact, the decals on the hood have long since faded off. The chrome and stainless trim around the car is in amazing shape for its age. The trim for the vinyl top come loose with the car too. There are 4 small holes in the trunklid from a rear spoiler someone did install 20 yrs ago. Easy fix for any body person but thought it should be mentioned. DRIVETRAIN:Original 302 2v motor runs really well for being stock. Car has plenty of power for its era and fun to drive. Valve seals are showing their age, after it sits for a few days its smokes some when you start it up. It doesnt last long and doesnt smoke at all while tooling down the road. Fires right up and idles smooth and responsive. As mentioned earlier, the trans needs to warm up for about 5 min before it wants to engage, but once you start driving it, it feels good and doesnt worry me for around town driving.Original muffler died yrs ago and a cheap cherry bomb was installed for now. Not pretty not even that loud but it works. Suspension and Brakes:Drives and feels good for a almost 40 yr old car. Rear leafsare showing their age, so someone installed the shackles yrs ago. Personally Id just rebuild the rear leafs and put stock shackles back on it and a nice set of shocks all around if was going to keep it. Non power drum brakes feel good, but car pulls a little under hard braking, so Id suggest check all 4 corners and see if it needs any work just in case. It may just need the shoes adjusted. Over time adding disc to the front would be ideal. PS works great. IMPORTANT NOTE TO BIDDERS ~~ If the reserve is met, the winner has their choice of wheels that come with the car. How cool is that ! They can take it with the 14x7 Cragers and tires OR they can have the 14" old school factory style dishmags with tires. (shown on the 72 Challenger in the pics) MISC: best I can tell, all the lights, blinkers etc work fine dashlites inside seem to be dim. It wouldnt take a lot to restore it and in the end its only going to go up in value. Sure a fair amt of Grabbers where made in 1974, .....23,502. But over the years, most are gone crashed, rusted away or whatever. A small percentage are still on the road and an even smaller # are factory 5.0 cars. Last time I checked, they arent building them anymore :) Check out over 100 pics below, be patient and let them all load. LOW FAIR RESERVE dont miss out !! This is an un restored car, but even better, its an unmolested survivor from the Az desert. So if you want one you can restore with the least amt of issues, this is the Maverick you should be buying. I WONT END THE AUCTION EARLY / LOW FAR RESERVE Az cars are well known for being the easiest and best cars to buy to restore. Great trim and hardly any rust even after all these cars due to the arid hot climate, our older cars are more like time capsules most of the country isnt use use to seeing for sale. If it doesnt meet reserve, email me anyways if still interested. Either way it would be a great car to restore I think back to stock. Probably the BEST represented MAVs on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad. If you treat yourself to buying one of our cars, youll never buy a bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let other auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Fully operational condition to make shipping cheaper and easier. We have a good shipping source too if you need help there. Clear original AZ TITLE in hand. CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 14 days of auctions END ! we can no longer store cars for anyone !! EMAIL US WITH ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE !! Would this car make a road trip across country ? Honestly I dont see why it wouldnt, but I probably dont suggest doing it in a car this old thats not restored.
