Vehicle Detail
Hi, and thanks for checking out my bike. It's dependable, beautiful, comfortable, and strong running. I bought it to ride back and forth to work on and to do some long distance touring this summer but have decided that maybe I'm just a little too old for it now. This particular model has become some what of a collector's item. I saw one sell on You-tube for $5500.00. I don't think the one I'm offering here is quite as clean as that one but it is a beautiful bike. The color scheme is reminiscent of the middle '60's Chevy colors. One guy I saw on the net even put the old Chevy 'Belle-air' emblem on his. ACE stands for American Classic Edition and the bike was created to appeal to the Harley crowd and those that like the 'old school' cruiser look. It was actually built in the U.S.A., in Ohio. The bike has been down at least once. The guy I bought it from said that he tried to take off on it one day and had forgot to unlock the forks and down he went. There is a small scrape under the right saddle bag and a dent in the chrome bag support piece, and a small nickel sized, shallow, round dent in the tank. There has been some surface oxidation on some of the chrome. I've cleaned up most of it but some of the places are hard to get to. Some pieces would have to be replaced and some need sanding and spraying, etc. if you really wanted to restore it back to 'show-room' condition. The Metzler tires are about 60%. The windscreen is clouded but repairable, I think. All-in-all it's in pretty good shape for a 15 year old bike. It runs real strong and gets great gas mileage, about 47 m.p.g. There is a battery charger and cover included. The best thing about this bike, aside from the good looks, is the comfortable ride. At highway speeds it's like riding a cloud but easily manuevered. I really wanted to take it on a long trip to the mountains this summer but my health won't allow it, I'm afraid. My loss, your gain. Check out the pictures. I'll post more when the rain stops but you can get a pretty good idea from these. I took them early on and have cleaned the bike up a lot since I took them. Happy Bidding! On Apr-06-13 at 10:28:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay Ya'll, here's some more pictures that were taken less than an hour ago. You can see the good, bad, and ugly. The spot on the tank is a shallow dent apparently caused by the handlebar or brake lever when it was dropped by the previous owner, as mentioned above. Also mentioned above is the light surface oxidation (rust) on some of the chrome, can be seen in the new pic's as well, plus the windshield needs someone with more know-how than I to clear it out. I really like this bike and I've decided to keep it and restore it if it doesn't sell. The bike runs, handles, and rides like a new bike. Happy Bidding! On Apr-08-13 at 07:49:33 PDT, seller added the following information: An active bidder sent a message over the weekend and said that I've discussed at length the condition of the paint, chrome, etc. but not much about the mechanical condition of the bike so let me brag a little. That's the best part of this bike. Aside from the apparent good looks, this bike is known for it's dependability and good overall characteristics. Punch in "1998 Honda Shadow VT 1100 ACE Cruiser" in your search engine and look for 'revues'. It outscores every other bike in it's class for dependability, comfort, performance, etc. The only classifications is doesn't do well in is 'off road' and 'racing'. That's not to say that it's not fast, just not the ultimate race bike. Who wants to go off road or race this bike anyway. It's not what it's designed for although it'll surprise you when you twist the throttle and it'll leave most Harley's in the dust and hold it's own with most others, according to the revues I've read. ( I don't race anymore ). I've not seen any fluid or oil leaks anywhere. I've checked all the cables and replaced both hand levers with nice wide grip ones. The baffle in the right muffler is a little louder than the left. If I had kept the bike I would have installed custom exhaust eventually. There's literally hundreds of aftermarket accessories for this bike. A good exhaust system will start around $200.00 but the exhaust on it functions fine, I just don't like the sound. I prefer medium loud exhaust with a deeper tone. It's a little slow starting on real cold mornings but has never failed to start. I walked out yesterday morning and it fired right up with no choke or throttle. ( I will not ride it again since the reserve has been met.) All the lights work fine. I replace one of the front trn signals because of some rust that didn't clean up good. The bike weighs 574 pounds dry, Averages 47 mpg, cruises at 70 mph+ all day, brakes are good, it has fresh oil and filter, and all handlebar controls function properly. ( Kill switch, horn, dimmer switch, starter.)Lastly, I sold another bike on here last week and when I went to get the title, I couldn't find it and I'm looking for it still. I contacted the buyer and refunded his entire deposit and ate crow. It was embarrassing and I feel bad about it but, please be assured, that was not this bike and all the paperwork for the Honda is in order.I'm really trying to put down everything I can think of to let everyone know that your bid is safe and my feedback is valuable to me. Please check it out and bid with total confidence.
