I am listing my 1977 AMC Hornet for auction. I have owned this car for approximately 18 Months. When I purchased it, the car ran but needed work for it to run smoothly without stalling, and leaking a lot of oil and smoking. I did not go about refurbishing this car as a show car, instead, I wanted it to be a funky nice daily driver. I have more than $4,200 in receipts for the last year; I am done with spending money on this. The car has been sitting in my driveway for the last few months- it doesn't run at this time, but it may just be in need of a jump. (It was running the best it ever did as of December and was a fun little commuter car!) I have completed a lengthy list of repairs to the car, starting with getting the car in running order. Air conditioning system was restored and is operable. If purchased, you will have to have car towed. The brakes were operating as intended, stopping evenly. Transmission was shifting smoothly and quietly. All four tires appear to have plenty of life on them- three are white walls, one is not- not sure why, but it was that way when I bought it. The battery was replaced as well. Muffler is new. The body is in decent shape with a few dings and touch ups as can be expected for a car of this age- it appears to be the original paint job. I believe the car has always been in California. There is a little rust on the inside of the doors, and one dent by the passenger front headlight. The interior is in good condition- seat upholstery looks great, in red Aztec-style print. The door panels are in fair shape. The Dash is in good shape, not cracked.. The carpet is in ok shape, some stains. . The windshield wiper motor was recently repaired and operate. . The radio is operating. The clock does not work. All windows are crank. The passenger front window is a little difficult to roll down. This car was running up until December. I do not know the extent of why it is not running now, however the car sat for a few months without driving- I'm guessing it is the battery, but up to you to determine that. . This is a fun funky little car- I was driving this car for my daily errands around town for approx 4 months with no major issues until this point. I can provide receipts and documentation of all repairs (in the neighborhood of $4200). My loss is definitely your gain. Car is available for inspection in Palm Springs BEFORE the end of the auction. Do not bid if you are not prepared to buy at auction end- I am disclosing all of the information that I know about the car now so there are no surprises when you get here.
