Vehicle Detail

Selling my 1970 Cougar XR-7. This is a HoundsTooth edition that was only produced one year, in 1970. This is a 1 of 338 in this paint & trim. It has the HoundsTooth vinyl top.. Wimbledon White with Black (7A) interior. Both original to the car. Powered by a 351ci Cleveland 2V motor with an original Ford aluminum 4bl intake (for 2V heads) and a Autolite 4100 carb rebuilt by Pony Carbs. Runs perfect. FMX transmision that has no issues. Highway driving is nice with a 2.75 open 9" rear end. Car has been driven on several long trips to car shows. Edmonton to the Columbia Valley Classic in Radium BC twice. This car is in empecable shape. Previous owner stated her Uncle had kept it in a heated garage since 1974 and it still does to this day. I have original log book showing fuel fill ups, oil changes and tune ups / repairs up to 97,00 miles and 2002. All original body panels with no body work done to any areas. 80-85% is still original paint as is the vinyl top. There is "NO" bubbles anywhere under the vinyl top and I have more pictures of every area of the top if interested. It has been hand polished to retain its shine and most people are very surprised its still original paint and top. I had the hood, front fender extensions and front valance painted in 2009. These areas had extensive rock chips in them and needed attention. My body man matched the Wimbledon White as best he could and its hard to see a difference unless you look at it in a certain light/angle. You really need to look closely to see the difference. At that time I added the Eliminator hood scoop and hood stripe, Passenger side sport mirror and functional "Ram Air" with an original Ford Ram Air lid on the air cleaner. I didn't want to add the scoop if it wasn't functional. I know some purists will chastise me for cutting the hole in the hood but I did research on what the hole size and dimensions should be and cut it as close to factory as I could. Some of the work that I have done to it is. New front rotors. calipers booster and pads. Roller bearing front upper and lower control arms from OpenTrackRacing in Calf. Steers and handles very nicely. Larger front sway bar. Basically the front end has been totally gone thru. Pertonix solid state ignition. Clutch fan, Plugs, Wires, New Oil sending unit.(original developed a leak), Reconditioned Grille, hood trim and front turn signals, restored to original. Upgraded the turn signal relay to a solid state controller and flasher. Rechromed front and rear bumpers. They are the originals, not repo's and they had no dings or bends in them, just new triple plate chrome. Duel exhaust from just past the exhaust manifold thru to the back via Magnaflows, 2 1/4" pipe with turn downs as the original cars had. Authentic Ford hangers for the exhaust system, not some after market item. Rear springs upgraded with a higher load capacity to get the car to sit just a tad higher in the back end. ( don't like the rear saggy look ). Head light relays from Rocket Man Inovations, hooked up to Halogen headlights. Vacumm system is in A1 condition. the lids stay down for about a month and a half while sitting in the garage before they start to creep up. Interior is all original with one repair to a frayed seam on the drivers seat. I have installed an original AM/FM "Cougar" radio that has been upgraded with modern electronics from "Western Wirless Radio" It has a remote Aux. cable for an alternate music source and new 4X10 speakers in the rear with a dual voice coil in the dash. Sounds real nice...The repo rims are 15X7" with new BF Goodrich tires that have maybe a 1000kms on them. The XR-7 center caps are hand made and a one of a kind item. I do have the blue running cat emblems if this is what a buyer prefers. Rim blow steering wheel is original and not redone. It had a leather wrap on it from new and was in perfect shape. I had it clear coated and the rim blow rubber is still soft and plyable. Works like new. Tilt steering column. New passenger side clock lens and a quartz movement. Many other upgrades and reconditioning done to the car, Alternator, Voltage regulator, front brake lines, master cylinder, Tail light lenses/bezels, anything that was in need of attention got taken care of. This car looks new and drives better than new. Any questions feel free to ask...On Mar-04-13 at 20:04:56 PST, seller added the following information: I do have several more pictures of the car if someone is interested send me an email address and I can forward what you would like to see.
