Vehicle Detail
At 51 years old, the body on this Jag is dry as a bone with no rust through anywhere that I can find, and the underseal on the wheel arches has not peeled off. The paint gleams as you can see in the pictures. There is one place on the right front fender that needs help, and the interior of the trunk could use paint. I have two of these cars and health reasons mean that I won't be getting to both of them. Has not been started in 3 years, but kept in an air conditioned garage the whole time. This car has the highly desirable chrome wire wheels that are in excellent condition and shod with Michelin red-line tires that have very few miles on them. They are better than the wires on my 63 and I was tempted to swap them over. But that wouldn't be fair on the buyer would it.The engine is the top of the line 3.8 litre as fitted to the last of the XK-150's and the first of the E-Type's. In my opinion there is no better engine ever fitted in any car.The interior is starting to show its age, but at 51 so did I. The woodwork is in great condition with no delaminating and a good shine. the engine compartment shows no oil leaks, the exhaust manifolds must have been replaced at some time because they both still have a lot of the original ceramic coating on them. The cam covers, carb pots, and carb intake have no pitting in the aluminum and will polish up beautifully. The power steering pump and the rear bumper are both off of the car right now but I have them both. The bumper needs re-chroming.Mark 2 Jags are getting almost impossible to find in this condition, and the last one I saw go through Barrett-Jackson sold for over $30,000.00. I owned my first one more than 40 years ago and have owned a number of them since. This is the car that was preferred by bank managers in England because it is so classy, stylish, and comfortable. It was also preferred by bank robbers because of its speed and handling, and the fact that the police at the time had nothing that would catch them. This is probably one of the most honest car descriptions that you have read on E-Bay. The car is sold as is where is with no warranty. If you are local, please call me and arrange a time to look at it before the listing expires. My home number is 817-523-3141 and my name is Ian.Once again, you won't find a better car to play with than this lovely old jag. There is no hidden reserve (I hate that on listings). If one person bids the opening price and nobody else bids, that person will own the car. Please do not bid if you have no intention of going through with it. I have had that done to me before and it really is annoying.Thank you, and good luck.
