1976 BMW R 90/6Gorgeous, All Original with Matching NumbersBlack with (Original) White Hand-Painted Pin StripingIncludes a Brand New Dyna III Electronic Ignition Set in the Original BoxFor the Purist, Also includes a NIB Set of PointsService Records May Be Viewed in the PhotosIncludes full Vetter Shielding, Cruise Control, Engine Guards and New Yuasa Battery Up for auction is an exemplary 1976 R 90/6, the first in the BMW R-Series that offered full electric start, front disc brakes, and many other improvements over the first 12 volt 5-Series...I purchased this all original bike in 2008 from an every day rider in Ashland, Ohio. In 2008, it had 36,973 miles on it after a $1,672.23 mechanical overhaul. The 21st and 22nd photos list all the work that was completed by Eric Kimple of Scheit's Motors in Fremont, Ohio. Eric is considered to be the North Coast guru of everything BMW. In last June 2012, Eric went completely through the bike again for an $1,181.82 update. Photos 23 and 24 show the work performed and Eric's suggestions for work to be considered in the next 2-3 years. The two major services to this bike total $2,854.05 as documented. While this may sound excessive, I purchased this bike as my personal ride to the Mid-Ohio Bike Week festivities each year. It brought great attention to the Ebeemer Vintage Restoration services in Northern Ohio. No cosmetic work was required upon purchase and little has been completed in the five years I have ridden it. The paint is spectacular for an original, non-restored bike. The hand painted pin stripes are in perfect condition, and the factory painter's initials are still on the underside of the gas tank. The gas tank is pristine with the original side badges. There is some minute pitting on the chrome gas cap that is to be expected from a 37 year old bike. By personal philosophy, we at EVR believe in leaving these minor imperfections to the discretion of the next owner. I mention the minor imperfections only as a matter of full and honest disclosure. As the photos show, this bike is gorgeous. The mirrors are original as are all of the controls. The mechanical cruise control was amongst the first of its kind and installed at the factory. I have never seen one on any other vintage BMW. The full Vetter shielding was installed by the dealer at the time of purchase. It is easily removed from the bike, and all turn signal and headlight mounting wires fit right back into the signal housings and headlamp bucket. When Eric went through the bike, I asked him to install the Dyna III ignition. He felt it should have a new and stronger diode board to support the increased heat and spark control. With bike week only a few weeks from the time it was serviced, I chose to change the points and condensor. Included in the sale is the NIB Dyna III that has never been installed. For the purist at heart, EVR always provides a new set of points. We have found in the past that transporting a vintage bike rather than riding it can be tough on the points due to weather conditions and new environments. While I would like to keep this bike, I don't ride it enough; and with my age creeping up on me, it is difficult at 5' 4" to mount the bike without difficulty. Rather than resign it to museum status, I have decided to sell it to someone who will ride it more often than me. Please note: the pictures were taken with the luggage mounts still on the bike. They were removed for another application this last winter. We have sources to procure a set along with an excellent set of Krausser Travel Bags. This may be negotiated after the initial sale. We buy and sell parts (and bikes) worldwide, and we are proud of the professional relationships we have developed in the past 25 years. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions. We are always willing to talk. As a courtesy, please refrain from involving us in internet scam attempts. No second-party sales will be negotiated. This is a beautiful bike that has been meticulously maintained by Eric Kimple for both owners. While it does show minor imperfections such as small roadrock chips over 37 years, it is in amazing condition. It is not, however, a "museum" piece. It loves to be ridden. There are no rips or tears, no road rash marks, and no damage or cosmetic work on the bike. Neither of us have taken the bike down. It has spent 37 years well cared for and parked and stored in climate controlled environments. The responsibility for shipping the bike is that of the buyer. While I will attempt to help, I can't crate it. There are several honest hauling companies in the United States. We shipped a bike from Ohio to Fairbanks, Alaska several years ago for under $500 (USD). Please also remember, this is a 37 year old, vintage bike. It is sold without warranty either spoken, written, or implied. EVR has taken great pride in building our reputation. Upon full payment, we will store the bike until it can be shipped to you or picked up by you.
