Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1967 Sunbeam Imp project. Restoration started by previous owner. I have done nothing with it for too many years so it has to go. Here is a link to a video walk-around: http://youtu.be/qOYLMsn_tE0 This Imp had received a very good repaint; the seller told me that it was brought down to bare metal and I believe it as the car has held up very well despite being parked outside under a tarp - very solid through sills/rocker panels and lower fenders with the sole sign of rust appearing on one wheel arch (pictured). The underside is very clean and original with no rust. Car's rear cross member is slightly bent (pictured); I will provide a straight cross member. Car has one significant dent at base of windshield onto bonnet (pictured). Car has a plexiglass rear hatch; I will provide a rear hatch with glass. Most trim pieces intact; one small chrome strip missing on front fender. Car is missing S U N B E A M letters across bonnet. Bumpers, hub caps and wiper arms will be included. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, a very competent professional mechanic who specialized in British cars. The engine starts immediately and runs very smoothly. Here are some of the things that need to be done: The restored gas tank needs to be reinstalled. Car needs brake and clutch hydraulics. Because the car has no hydraulics, I cannot verify the condition of the transaxle, but it is presumed good. Gear change linkage needs attention (shifter ball cup and flexible coupling needed). Plan on changing most or all rubber seals. Plan on changing out the tires. Car was previously registered by me in the state of Connecticut. Connecticut does not have titles for old cars. I will provide bill of sale and expired Connecticut registration papers for this car. $200 due via Paypal within 24 hours of auction end; balance within seven days. This is a rare opportunity to buy a solid Imp with a good engine. It is a project, but not a daunting project. Great support from Imp community on line. With 440,000 built from 1963 through 1976 in Linwood, Scotland, the Imp is truly a driver's car: rear-engine, rear wheel drive - like a Porsche 911. Fully independent suspension, rack and pinion steering. Sweet, high-revving all-aluminum engine with overhead cam, based on a Coventry Climax design. All-synchro 4-speed gearbox. Very economical car due to its 1560 lb. curb weight and small displacement engine - get 40+ mpg. Roomy interior for a small car. Accommodates tall people with ease. Seats four adults.
