For sale is my 1969 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback. Clean Iowa Title runs great It is an Automatic, Not an auto stick but a fully automatic 3spd Transmission. The car spent most of its life out west until 2010. Very very little rust. nothing that can't be fixed and nothing expensive needed for body work. Rust is all surface; it has only been drive one winter since being in Iowa and was washed constantly The car runs great if you have seen it around town, I have consistently adjusted the valve lash every 3700 miles and frequent oil changes. Original engine case, was rebuilt in 2010 and has less than 5k on it. New heads, cylinders, pistons, crank, bearings, oil pump, valves, rockers, everything but the case. was replaced NEW with the rebuild. The transmission was entirely overhauled. Not because it needed it, but it was 40 years old :) Every seal inside and out was replaced in the transmission and the rear end. This is an 003 model AT original to the car New dual carbs at time of rebuild. weber carbs nothing fancy but plenty of scoot :) Brand new, front discs, calipers, lines, and pads were done at time of rebuild. The rear drum brakes need replaced.. All of the new parts are included.. Shoes, drums, pistons and lines 5 brand new tires :) less than 1k miles on them. "The spare tire needs a rim" it is a new tire The car has two trunks. Since it has a suitcase Porsche style motor, there is a very large trunk over-top of it. :) Brand new battery and starter.. just installed in December before the snow New rebuilt windshield wiper motor New headlights and an extra set of new ones "they were on sale :) " The BAD The wiring is original and needs replaced. However everything but the rear defroster and dash lights work. The car is legal to drive blinkers lights etc. The interior is original and is what it is. this was my family car for 12+ years and vinyl cracks carpet rips etc. new interior kits are available and easy to install as is pretty much everything about the car. The fuse box needs replaced or reconditioned at least. Fuses don't blow but they have certainly failed to make connections at times. THERE IS NO HEAT. Parts are available but the heat exchangers are not on the car. The exhaust is solid and has no leaks into the interior or otherwise. There is NO AC ;) -------------------------------------------- Included are all the parts i have at no additional cost, this includes oil strainers for future oil swaps, the three shop manuals I have for it "covers everything!" This car is a rare gem and with the original engine and trans its all the better. Frame matches vin, and engine and trans can be matched to the car. The car was Fuel Injected originally but that was long gone when I purchased the car. Occasionally the car won't start with the key and can always be started by shorting out the starter .A pushbutton switch would easily remedy this or a relay. I have a new ignition that needs installed with keys. i replaced the battery and the starter looking to fix the issue but it would appear to be a loose ground or bad wire in the route. Nothing too hard to fix but haven't had a chance since winter. The car will only be on the market for a week and then it will just be getting stored. I will be out of state after that and will not be selling it.
