1972 Mercedes 280SE 4.5 W108 Vin# 10806712021462 Last year of production. This is a robust driver with good looks. This vehicle was obtained from a dealer in California in November 2010. The mileage is unknown. It is likely more than the 83,500 shown at the odometer. Since acquisition, over $2000 have been invested to replace various parts. The engine runs well with no smoke. It always fires right up. The sparkplugs and ignition wires were just replaced. The transmission shifts properly. The suspension is in good condition. The brakes function properly. Driving this car is quite enjoyable. Good amount of power available.At least 50% left on tires. The body is solid and straight. A rust spot exists in the center of the floor section corresponding to the left rear seat (see pictures). This is a frequent occurrence on these cars. It could be easily fixed by replacing this section of floor pan. As shown, the rest of the body is in good shape. The car was repainted several years ago in its tasteful original blue color. Although the paint is shiny, the quality of the job is average. There are paint cracks on the right fender (see picture). From 6ft away, the car looks really good. The chrome parts are in good condition. The windshield has just been replaced. Some rubber seals will need replacement. The central vac locking system works. The AC needs to be fixed. The Becker Europa II radio, correct for the year, was just put in. It works well. The automatic Hirshmann antenna comes up when the radio is turned on. Interior: The carpeting is in good condition. The MB-tex seats are in need of restoration although they look ok. The dashboard is in very decent condition. The dashboard cover has been replaced. Custom cover, owner’s manual, original Billstein jack, European front plate, will be included. This is a good driver, enjoyable as is. You can improve it by stages as an ongoing project.
