Vehicle Detail
I’m selling my beloved 1961 Volkswagen Beetle factory Ragtop/ sunroof. Since buying and building this car I have become a parent (two under the age of 4) and work from home, therefor no often joyriding in the Bug for Dad these days. The project was a pan off restoration. I drive the car about three to four times a month and love every minute of it. I built the car knowing that I wanted to make it a daily driver; it has never let me down. All I get is smile and waves because everyone who sees it loves it. The car has been garaged everyday since the paint was applied 4 years ago. Now I’m hoping she goes to a new home where someone can appreciate driving her more often. Here is what I have done thus far…. The Good: Interior- · New VW Seat Upholstery 1958-64 Bug Front & Rear OEM Smooth Vinyl brick red with off white piping · New door panels in Brick red · New OEM quality white perforated headliner · New VW Rag Top All Corners Round “Stayfast” Canvas in tan as well as all new rollers, sliders, and rivets (also polished the rails) · Original “Golde” rag top handle · New Premium Quality front and luggage area VW Carpet Kits in OEM oatmeal loop · Seat rails & shifter powder coated in Pepper White · Whole interior insulated in Dynamat Extreme (sound and vibration cancelling) on ever surface of bare interior before installing new OEM quality insulation pieces as well · Vintage Nardi steering wheel with sleek aluminum boss · Radio delete · Original door rearview mirror, handles, & window cranks (pretty good condition) · New dome light · New glove box · New ivory grab handle and heater knob Exterior- · Newish paint (4 years old), very few nicks here and there. The car was completely stripped apart to make sure ever part was painted properly (pan off restoration) · Wheels powder coated in deep red with new VW hubcaps · Have an extra smoothie wheel and tire and original floor jack · New BF Goodrich 195/65 R15 in rear and Nankang 145 R15 in front (only appx. 400 miles of use on them) · New fender beading · New chrome bumpers · New door handles with matching keys · New locking “T” decklid handle · New headlight assemblies and chrome rings · New seals all around: Hood, deck, & outer doors · New window seals with all new chrome inserts · New chrome trim on body · Complete new door seal kits · New door window felt kits · New running boards Mechanics- · All new engine tins painted in satin to give the clean “Okrasa” look · Only about 2000 miles on rebuilt 1300cc engine · New “Freeway Flyer” transmission · New complete wiring loom · New Beetle 1961-1963 “Prothane” suspension bushing kit · New brake lines thru the car, plus steel breaded line in front · New pan halves welded in the entire undercarriage sprayed with underlining · New body seal to pan The (not so) Bad: · Passenger window rolls up fine, but you have to guide it down. The rubber holding the glass in the channel has dried out. I do have the new channel and rubber that will be included in the sale (don’t have much time on my hands these days to install it myself) · Haven’t gotten around to installing the rear engine tin, it’s included in the sale · The front suspension has been chopped completely, taking off 2” from each side to tuck the front wheels in, but with that there are no front shocks anymore. The spindles were welded to the arms to give it a 2” drop (done by previous owner). · Speedometer works, but makes a whining sound, been meaning to replace it. · One tiny chip in front window · No horn nor turn signals · Have tan seat belts, need to be installed · Never got around to making rear kick boards, bought the vinyl and particle board but never ended up making them · Some brake fluid spilled out of the reservoir and the paint underneath is peeling (see photo) · Nardi horn button has a crack on the side when I was installing the steering wheel · Dash- the previous owner had a different ignition switch and made the hole bigger. Small hole were the pervious owner had installed an alarm light right above the radio delete Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions.
