Honda set the automotive world on fire with the launch of the first true “super car” from the Japanese market. In the U.S., the NSX was badged under Honda’s new upscale division called Acura. What made this car so unique was not only its incredible styling and performance, but also its ease to drive. And it was because of this that so many of these cars became daily drivers.
The current owner of this NSX is a local physician and fellow car enthusiast. This was his dream car. However, he is extremely picky and had to have Sebring Silver. This color was particularly rare and ’93 was the last year for it and they only made a reported 23 manual cars in that color. The 1991 and 1992s had an issue with the transmission, so this really narrowed his search. As a result, it took him over a year to find the right car. He found the car about 5-years ago in Northern California garage with 106,000 miles. All the services were current and it passed the mechanics inspection. The previous owner had recently performed a major service including the timing belt.
For the next 13,000 miles, the current owner regularly serviced the car at a well-respected Orange County Acura specialist. Besides the normal oil service, the owner had the a/c system completely gone through and it works great. Also, the clutch master cylinder was replaced.
At 79,000 miles, the previous owner rebuilt the transmission and top end of the engine. We do not have any records though.
The car is mostly stock with no engine modifications. The only additions were factory OEM 2002 NSX Wheels, an NA2 front spoiler lip, and lowering (H&R) springs. That’s it.
The condition of this car looks great for the miles. The front rubber spoiler has some scuffing on it, but pretty normal considering the height. The car was damaged on the left rear at a track day at Road America in 2005, but there is no report of accident damage from Carfax or AutoCheck. The owner’s current mechanic inspected the damage and found that everything was safely repaired and it had no effect on the performance or handing. He did notice that the whole car was repainted. The paint is decent with some minor chips. Due to the delicate nature of the aluminum frame, the trunk was replaced and there was welding on the frame where the damaged section was replaced. The interior is equally as nice. The dash looks great with no cracks or warping. Even the seat leather is in very good condition considering the miles. The owner was very careful about getting out of the car so as to not damage the bolsters.
As you can imagine, this Acura drives great. It shifts smooth and everything works, as it should.
California registration is paid through December of 2013.
This NSX comes complete with the original spare tire, rare tool kit, jack, owner’s manual, and factory car cover.
