Vehicle Detail
1995 JAGUAR XJS CONVERTIBLE ROADSTER VERY RARE 5-SPEED GETRAG TRANSMISSION! THIS CAR IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND IT THE RIGHT COLOR COMBINATION - BLUE WITH A BLUE TOP AND CREME INTERIOR. Thanks for looking at this listing. If you are looking at this listing, it is likely that you are interested in the 5 speed conversion. They are rare, and if you know about them, cost a huge amount of money (upwards of $5000). I always wanted one, and this one has all the right stuff, but I have found another project (a 1989 with a LT1 engine) and it is time to move on. I am seriously passionate about Jaguars, specifically the XJS. I just love the lines, and as a result, I have several. This 1995 XJS 5 speed is a beautiful, smooth and responsive driver. The 1995 model is much improved over the 93 94 models, as it has coil over plugs (no more distributor and wire changes) and has a higher horsepower and torque rating: 245hp (vs. 219hp) and 289 lb ft (vs. 273). The 1995 model also has outboard brakes, which means that you don't have to drop the rear axle to change the rear brakes!!! The 1995 also has the fantastic body moulded skirt kit that really makes it look a lot better than previous versions. Also, the 1995 4.0L engine almost has as much horsepower and torque as the V12 in a much lighter and tighter package, making it more fun to drive, especially with the super smooth 5-speed. And with the 4.0L Six Cylinder, the maintenance worries of the V12 are gone. THIS IS A RARE CAT, THEY RARELY, RARELY COME UP FOR SALE! I BELONG TO THE LOCAL JCNA CLUB AND IN 5 YEARS, THIS IS THE FIRST XJS 5-SPEED I HAVE EVER SEEN. The 5 speed conversion really wakes up these cars and totally changes the feel... You will have a BLAST driving this car!!! This car is not low mileage, but at 99,186 miles, it is relatively a low mileage car. However, once you drive the 5 speed, you will see that it is a 'driver's car'. This car has also benefited from some upgrades: the blue cloth top is brand new, the dash and instrument cluster are in fantastic shape (and are tan in 1995 instead of black), it has racing brakes with drilled rotors and painted (red) calipers, that are behind 1999 Jaguar XK8 Revolver 17" wheels with spacers (otherwise the center wheel caps would not fit), newer Goodyear Eagle 225/55/17 tires, and a larger front swaybar with polyurethane bushes. The car has been repainted, but does suffer from some parking lot abuse, it has minor scratches and a couple of driver door dings. (send your email address if you want more photos) The paint has also 'crazed' on the hood for some reason. It also has a broken right side light marker (the small red one on the bumper). That said, from 5 feet, it looks absolutely fantastic!!! I get complements on it all the time. The car has been in Arizona, which is fantastic because it is so dry here. This is great because there is no rust anywhere, but it has dried out the interior somewhat. The seats need to be redone, which is common for most XJS cars and inexpensive (around $700) but they are currently covered in very expensive Merino wool covers. I would also suggest to upgrade the suspension to polyurethane, but it does not need to be done. The engine compartment and mechanical appear new. The engine also starts the first time, every time, doesn't smoke, and runs like new. The transmission is equally as good, and really has tall gears. If you want a Jaguar that can take Mustangs and BMW's, this is your one. The research I have done state that the Getrag transmission has a very tall 3.8 first gear, with a .89 overdrive. With the positraction 3.54 rear axle (the 93 and older cars had 2.88 granny gears), this would equate to a 4.60+ gear in 1st. If you put your foot in it, even with the larger wheels and tires, they break loose very easily (not that I have). And yet, the transmission is smooth and it cruises at under 2000 rpm on the highway at 70 mph. It is absolutely fantastic! I am not asking or expecting some 'crazy' price on the car and have set the reserve low! The last couple of 5 speed cars available on ebay have been set at over $14,000. Most don't sell because of this. My reserve is half. As I said, I need my money out for another project. If you spend some time and money, you will have a fantastic, perfectly rare and desirable car!!!
