1959 TEXAS DPS HIGHWAY PATROL CAR DOCUMENTED ORIGINAL I have been “Picking” vintage cars and trucks for many years and have seen over 100 vintage cars and truck pass through my hands. But this car is definitely one of my top 10 best finds ever! I personally pulled this heavily documented 1959 Texas Highway Patrol Car out of a barn here in central Texas about two weeks ago. It had sat there over 45 years untouched. The documents and police equipment found inside the car have blown me away. This 59 Ford was delivered to the Texas Department of Public Safety on July 15th 1959 as per the Ford Service Policy found in the car. The car was then used by the DPS until it was auctioned off on March 17th 1964 for the sum of $477.79. I hold the original auction statement from the State of Texas selling the car. The DPS Equipment number was unit #691. This number is still present inside both doors. Also found is the original Ford dealer window sticker listing out: Special Police Package, HD Clutch 8cyl engine, overdrive, 60 Amp Alt. Etc. I hold the ONLY civilian title the car has ever had and the only three years of registration the car ever had. Again...the car was parked in the garage in 1967 till two weeks ago. The body of the car is truly amazing after all these years. There is no dents found anywhere. Just one scrape on the drivers side rocker panel. The car is extremely solid with only one small quarter size hole on the front on the hood. The floors, trunk pan etc. are all solid. The chrome is nice but the rear bumper should be re chromed or replaced. Even the doors shut solid and both lock and unlock with the original keys. Inside the car still sports the original DPS Highway Patrol RCA Tube style Police Radios. In the trunk you’ll still find the big Police Radio Transmitter and Receiver. The car still has it’s original and working Police Spot light and original BIG spring whip antenna. Even the seats and glass are in very nice shape for 54 years old car. The car has Polar Ice Air Conditioning and it’s original 352 Police Interceptor V8 motor which is not running after sitting so long. The clutch feels good and the transmission shifts throughout all the gears. I removed the old battery and tested much of the electrical. The lights work, dash lights work, horn works, turn signals, spot light works, and the police radio lights up and I hear a hum from the trunk transmitter but no sound. I saved the best for last! Under the back seats and trunk I found lots of 1960’s FBI Wanted Posters that will go with the car. The car is located in San Antonio Texas.
