Vehicle Detail
Highly restored Studebaker pick up. Not completely original, as you can see. But improved for reliability. Nothing has been altered beyond a simple mechanical change, if the new owner wanted it bone stock. An original glove box door was used to create a dash panel to accomodate modern guages. 12v electrical system, using a Painless sub harness. Expertly, and painstakingly restored by the previous owner. I shudder to think what he spent! The underside is almost as nice as the top. Stainless steel hardware used throughout. The paint and body are arrow straight. Interior upholstery is first rate. Original hardware is all present. Door handles, mirrors, and fittings are all Studebaker. The bed has a textured finish under the paint. Not as heavy in texture as Rhino liner, but enough to hide bumps and bruises if you were to put cargo in there. The bed stakes are oak, and removeable. Beautifully done. Everything works on this truck. Unlike many restorations that look terrific, but only partially function. The engine starts right up, and after a brief warm up period, has no issues whatsover. It is smooth and quiet. Same with the transmission. Shifts easily, and positively. No clutch chatter or hesitation. The rear end is quiet at any speed, no gear whine at all. The steering and brakes are typical 1950's, but function perfectly. I bought this truck impulsively at the Ameila Island RM auction in March 2011. Whomever owned it before me, spared no expense restoring, and must have intended to use it, because it is built to drive. Definitely better than they were ever constructed when new. He obviously spent alot of money restoring it. And I paid way too much at the auction buying it. I really had no idea about these trucks, just fell in love with the way it looked. Havent had time to use it. I think that perhaps ive driven it 50 miles. Problem is, I have several cars, and this one is far from my favorite. With limited time, it just sits in my climate controlled garage with a battery tender plugged into it. I paid $36,000 plus the auction fees. Its been on EBay before, in case you've noticed. This is a rock bottom price, Id just like to move it along, could use the space right now. You cannot ever duplicate this truck for the asking price. Do yourself a favor if you are local, and come take a look at it. The pictures don't do it justice. Also, the color is darker than in the pictures, with non of the pinkish tint that you see. Shipping is the responsibilty of the buyer, but I would be happy to assist. I have lots of experience. Give me a call if you would like to see it, or have any questions. Joe, 516-317-4492
