Vehicle Detail
1947 BUICK ROADMASTER Elegance, durability and luxury - qualities synonymous with the Roadmaster Marque - and this RARE and HARD TO FIND 1947 is no exception. This excellent example of American automotive engineering is beautifully turned out in a gorgeous green color scheme. The majestic lines of this Buick are striking to say the least. This is a car for the ages - the perfect addition for the American or European collector looking for late 40s distinction and style. WHAT YOU SEE IS THE RESULT OF VERY WELL DONE GROUND UP RESTORATION COMPLETED APPROXIMATELY 10 YEARS AGO ON THIS VERY SOLID, ALL METAL, NO BONDO, NO RUST CAR AT A COST OF OVER $15,000 USD AT THE TIME, AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE PURCHASE PRICE. IT SHOULD BE STATED THAT THIS CLASSIC HAS BEEN PRIMARILY KEPT IN STORAGE AND HAS HAD LESS THAN 5K MILES PUT ON IT IN THE LAST 20 YEARS. THE MILEAGE IS BELIEVED TO BE ACTUAL. Thousands were spent on the pleasing green coordinated interior that offers bench seats in both front and rear. The interior is near perfect and is as close to showroom new as possible. The chrome trim on the interior is exceptional as is the obvious attention to detail throughout the interior. The tenelite steering wheel is all that is left to do. Power originates from the legendary 320 C.I.D (5.2 L) Fireball Dynaflash inline 8 cylinder engine connected to an ultra-smooth 3-speed column mounted transmission for effortless cruising and comfort and is numbers matching on the engine, frame and drive train. The engine and drive train have never been out of the car. This gorgeous classic starts up and idles effortlessly and drives as close to new as you will ever get. Upon close inspection this beautiful classic all metal luxury sedan appears to be rust free inside and out including the under carriage, frame, rocker panels, the floor pans, trunk pan and wheel drops. It has all of the original door pulls inside and out, as well as the original window cranks (except one vent window crank), dome light, seat light frames and covers are original. The interior chrome trim on this classic is exceptional and is everywhere! The front and rear bumpers are nice but will need finished to be brilliant again. The rear bumper needs the Roadmaster emblem. The passenger side front window as a skinny vertical crack and the drivers front window has very small cracks down low in a corner but both are still very solid and functional. All other glass is very nice. Gauges, lights (except the spot light) even the courtesy seat lights and overhead dome works. The turn signals work. The radio fires up, the cigarette lighters and the horns work. The clock doesn’t work but the factory installed compass (in the clock dial) seems fine. The heater, defroster and blowers work, as do the windshield wipers. The expensive Coker Wide White radial tires have less than 1000 miles on them. The brakes are solid and the car stops as it should. The clutch is strong with a lot of pedal. The car steers straight and has an unbelievably smooth ride with no funny noises, just a solid luxurious feel while cruising down the road. This car is ready to go! THIS RARE CLASSIC ISN’T A TRAILER QUEEN, NOR IS IT PERFECT. REMEMBER THIS IS A 65 YEAR OLD CAR, BUT YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW BY LOOKING AT IT. IT SHOWS THAT IT WAS WELL CARED FOR BUT IT WAS ALSO DRIVEN AND ENJOYED. YOU CAN TINKER WITH IT AND MAKE IT AS CLOSE TO PERFECT AS YOU CARE TO, BUT IT IS ALMOST THERE. SHOW IT OR DRIVE IT THERE IS NO REASON WHY YOU COULDN’T TAKE THIS EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF CLASSIC AMERICAN STYLE AND INGENUITY TO ANY LOCAL OR REGIONAL CAR SHOW AS IS AND SHOW IT WITH PRIDE. NOT TO MENTION THAT YOU’LL PROBABLY BE THE ONLY ONE THERE WITH A 47 ROADMASTER. There are no dents or scratches on this car that can be seen even standing within a foot or two of the car. But the finish is not perfect as a few blemishes have been touched up. The paint on this car could easily be rated as an 8, and the paint delivers deep rich color and a mirror like shine. No, there is no evidence of any bondo or filler of any type in any of the usual places, and absolutely no visible rust damage as mentioned in the ad. I ran a magnet over the body of the car looking for any non-metal areas and found none . . . Yes the glass is the original double pane glass and it is stamped Safety Test 10-47 (October 1947). *There are also tags with the same date on the springs of the back seat. The interior is high quality fabric (expertly installed) with no noticeable damage anywhere including the floor and headliner. Yes, the gas tank has been replaced and appears new and the fuel lines and pump have been replaced. As far as any leaks I can only say that this car has been in the same spot for 3 weeks and there is a drip the size of a 50 cent piece. Not sure where it came from and it doesn't seem like a deal breaker. I imagine just about anything 65 years old might have a leak or two somewhere . . .THIS CAR PREVIOUSLY SOLD ON EBAY. UNFORTUNATELY, THE HIGH BIDDER NEVER MADE CONTACT WITH ME TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. PLEASE, ONLY BID IF YOU ARE SERIOUS AND AN HONEST EBAY COMMUNITY MEMBER. **PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICTURES** ASK QUESTIONS – MORE PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE UPON REASONABLE REQUEST PLEASE READ PAYMENT TERMS All Ownership, Insurance and/or Liabilities associated with the operation and/or maintenance will be transferred directly from the seller to the buyer at the time financial payment is remitted in full.
