Vehicle Detail
This is not your Grandpa's Scout. It has had Thousands of Dollars, and Hundreds of Shop Hours put into it to make it the one of a kind Classic 4x4 you see here. It has less than 20 miles on it since all of the work was done. I wish I could keep it and put it in some of our local car shows, but cash flow dictates I have to let her go now. I did an extensive tear down before restoring the body and paint including all glass including vent windows, door and window regulators, wiper motors, inside heater box, handles, ect. The Harwood hood scoop was installed using the latest bonding procedures. It feeds fresh air to the engine compartment by way of 6 large openings that do not affect the structural integrity of the hood. The Scout had a complete mechanical restoration about 10 years ago, and had no rust to speak of when I got it. The rear floor had been replaced, so it may have had some there at one time. At any rate it is rust free now. I noticed in striping it down, that the body has the rare Galvanized coating from the factory. It runs and drives excellent. It has a high quality, top rated stereo system that sounds great, and all modern high dollar gauges. The original 304 V8 engine makes a ton of power, and I have not seen any leaks of any kind on my garage floor from anywhere under the Scout. This was an original V-8 Scout with a fully boxed frame; way better built than a Bronco. The front and rear bumpers are very rare for this Scout. I have never seen them on another one. I know the rear is from the factory, because the license plate lights and the flood light style back up light have factory type plugs, and there was never back up lights in the regular location on the body. The front bumper is absolutely beautiful, and has a Warn winch from that period installed. I put a new wireless kit in it, and it works perfectly with a standard size remote, or the small key chain remote that comes with it. The convertible top has clear plastic, but is not new and has shrunk a bit. The heater works well and it is sealed well enough to keep you plenty warm, though I wouldn't go thru an automated car wash in it. The 1971 800B was the last year and only made for a short period of time. It is to me, the most desirable year of all Scouts.
