Vehicle Detail

*1977 Mercury Capri ll Ghia* Before you and up for bid at NO RESERVE is my 1977 Mercury Capri ll Ghia two door hatchback coupe. Purchased and owned for 20 years first by a sister in California and then her brother, (now 68) it has been in Colorado since 1997. Never wrecked. It is 98% rust free...the spare tire well, rockers, door skins, fenders, etc...all solid. The only existing rust are two small areas the size of a golf ball on each of the lower rear quarters...see pics The hood was dented at some point after someone sat on it, it was bondo repaired and is cracking. 102,750 actual miles, the engine was rebuilt at approx. 85K miles over 15+ years ago. There are no annoying drips or leaks. It has not been daily driven since 2008. Solid Capri's and Capri ll's, heck...any Capri's are pretty scarce these days. They were an affordable sports car imported from Germany by Ford and marketed through Lincoln Mercury dealers. The first Capri was offered in 1969 as a 1970 model with an anemic 1600 ci engine. In '72 a 2000 ci was introduced, '73 brought the 2600 V6. '74 's were either 2000's, 2.6 or 2.8 liters, there was no Capri imported for 1975. 1976 introduced the Capri ll. It was avaialable with either a 2.3 liter 4 cyl. or the 2.8 liter V6. 1977 saw the last of the Capri ll on U.S. shores. I owned 3 of them throughout the late '70's and '80's. (Capri & Capri ll's) They were fun, sporty, good handlers, and reasonably quick for the day. They easily could hang and occassionally best Z's, Celicas, 2002's, Triumphs, Alfa's, etc. This would be an ideal (SVRA) vintage racer or given the rear wheel drive, perhaps a drift car. 5.0 liter V8 conversion swaps were fairly easy and common back in the day. The Capri ll starts, runs and drives, the transmission shifts well through all gears including reverse. The car would benefit from new bushings and perhaps lower ball joints. Parts are still readily available and these were rather reliable cars in their day. If I were to keep it, I would remove all the trim pieces along with the bumpers and then take it completely down to bare metal. The factory sunroof opens at the rear for ventilation, however, it does not fully slide open. Gauges all operate as do the safety features. All 4 tires have good tread remaining. The windshield has a crack though not in the drivers line of sight. Bottom line, this is an affordable fun classic that you don't see that often. Clean Colorado title...NO RESERVE. I believe there is a sufficient following that appreciates these Capri's. I do. I hope it brings $1500 to perhaps $2000...its worth it. Understandably, at 35 years of age it is sold in "as is" condition. If you would like to "buy it now", call me directly to discuss it. The Capri and I are located in the Colorado Springs vicinity. Transportation and/or delivery are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Trailered door to door delivery is possible in the lower 48 states for $750-$1000. I'll work with you if you are in Colorado or a neighboring state. A $500.00 initial payment is due VIA PayPal within 24 hours of auction close. The balance is to then be paid within 3 days thereafter by a legitimate bank to bank wire as it provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties. I'll accept PayPal for the full purchase amount if the buyer pays ALL PayPal related fees. Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid! Jeff 719.492.1234, c
