Vehicle Detail

1993 Toyota Corolla Base Sedan 4-Door 1.6L FWD NOTE: I have the car listed locally as well... first reasonable offer wins this vehicle!!! Up for auction is a great running, dependable 1993 Toyota Corolla with a 5-speed manual transmission that needs nothing but a new owner. The body and interior has 240,200 original miles, BUT, the engine (1994 Toyota Corolla 1.6L) has less than 150,000 miles, and ALL the items (mentioned in 'The GOOD' section, below), were replaced within the last few years. *** Willing to trade for CASH & SILVER (bars/rounds/US Coins 40% and/or 90%) *** The GOOD - Recent replacement of the following items: The previous owner's relative (a certified mechanic), had replaced the original (1993 1.6L) engine with a factory-correct, great running 1994 Toyota 1.6L engine (93,000 original miles) that was removed from a rear-ended '94 Corolla, and then the engine was 'refreshed' with the following NEW items (all replaced at nearly the same time) within the last few years: Timing belt, water pump, battery, complete tune-up (spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor), radiator, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, as well as a complete clutch kit (including new flywheel). The oil and oil filter have been changed religiously every 3,000 miles by the previous owner and myself. Since I have owned the vehicle, I have had my local mechanic replace the following items: New front CV joint axle shaft assemblies, (1) new ball joint, new brake system (rotors, pads, drums, shoes, rear hardware kit), new exhaust components (flex pipe, exhaust manifold with heat shield), set of Goodyear tires (recently rotated - 90% tread life (9/32") on the fronts, and 70% to 80% tread life (7/32" to 8/32") on the rears. *** I have kept the receipts since I have owned the vehicle... Over $750 has been spent just within the last six months *** All electrical components work as they should (gauges, heater, radio, lights, wipers, windshield washer pump, horn, rear defroster, etc). All manually operated components work as they should (door locks, hood / trunk / fuel door release, mirrors, doors, windows, mirrors, etc.). Suspension is very good and tight -- rides smoothly on my daily highway (70+ mph) commutes to work. All glass is in excellent condition. Interior is in very good, 'unaltered' original condition (with exception of an 'upgraded' radio / CD player and speakers). The headliner, carpet, door panels, dashboard, instrument cluster and dash panel facing are all very nice as well. The cloth seats are in very good condition as well, but the seats and carpet could use a shampooing (see 'The BAD' below explaining the 'driver seat cosmetics'). All exterior items, such as: Head lamps, tail lights, marker lights, door handles, locks, 'mirrors, etc., are all in very good condition. A few of the side molding (rubber) pieces are not attached (they are just held in place with 'adhesive'), but I have all the missing rubber side molding pieces (as well as a few 'duplicate spare' pieces) that I will include as well. NOTE: The front Toyota grill emblem is missing ($19.95 for a NEW replacement listed on eBay). A full size spare rim with tire is included as well, since I'm not a big fan of the factory 'baby spare'. I get an average of 28 to 30 mpg (combined city / highway miles), depending on my driving habits. The BAD - Passenger rear brake drum makes a 'clicking' sound (not 'dragging') when braking. My mechanic had inspected and adjusted the rear brakes and determined that it the noise is most likely due to some corrosion 'build-up' on the rear brake assembly; the braking system works fine as it should, but the clicking sound is a bit of a 'nuisance'. According to the previous owner, the A/C system had a small leak, and he used to recharge the system each summer; I never attempted a recharge... I just rolled down the windows and drove the vehicle as is. The driver's seat shows its wear for a 240,000 mile vehicle; it has a wear spot on the left bolster (see photos) and has some splitting / cracking in the vinyl facing on the lower left section of the seat; the seat is fully functional and is quite comfortable despite its age. The UGLY - Car has the 'usual' rust areas prone to these years, but the frame, trunk, floors, etc. have been inspected, and are SOLID. The paint is faded on the roof, but this can be expected for a vehicle 19 years old. ------------ If you are looking for a dependable, good used car to take you from point A to point B, and don't care if the vehicle has some rust, but prioritize that the integrity of the body, engine and transmission is sound, AND you don't want to invest initial money in repairs or buying missing or broken parts, then this is the car for you. NOTE: This car runs and idles well, the engine is quiet, the transmission and clutch operate smoothly. The car does not smoke or leak any fluids visible in my driveway -- I usually add one quart of oil between oil changes (around 1,500 miles)... other than that, the antifreeze, the power steering fluid, the brake fluid, the transmission and clutch fluids are checked periodically, but I have never needed to add additional fluid to any of these items to date. Reason for selling: I have recently purchased an AWD vehicle from a neighbor moving out of state, and am therefore selling this vehicle since I can't afford the cost to maintain the additional insurance, state license plates and local village sticker. I have 100% positive eBay feedback and have tried my best to point out all the 'Good', 'Bad' and 'Ugly' traits of this vehicle. If you have any questions, please free to contact me. Thank you.
