This car was brought to our good friends at Main Line Auto, a repair shop, in "very" upstate New York by the owner who had just had the motor redone at another repair shop. The timing belt had broken and the other guys had put on a rebuilt head and upon delivery to the customer it ran great.....for two days. One morning it would not start. The customer returned it to the original repair shop who could not figure it out...or so they said. What appears to have happened is when the motor work was done no one bothered to check the timing crank gear. There is a notch on this gear that is acts very similar to a shear pin and it should be inspected when the timing belt is changed. This must not have been done. The cam is about 16 teeth out of phase with the crank timing. SO......figure another new head "reman" gasket set, bolts, misc and labor. Main Line was unwilling to redo the job since this would have been the second time this motor had crashed and they didn't feel comfortable that they could guarantee the repair. This is about a 2500 dollar job at a decent repair shop. They recommended a replacement motor. They have sourced one with 40K miles and quoted 3500 complete for the repair. Interior is good, tires are good, brakes are good and the car is very clean inside and out and underneath. There is a bit of surface rust in a couple of spots and a small dent on the driver front fender and slight scratching of the bonnet. Customer says the clutch is new and the car is a great driver. This is a no reserve auction. We have put a BIN price that is reasonable for the car. This price goes away as soon as the opening bid is made. Best of luck, this really does look like a great TT. It is loaded on a ramp truck and Main Line is willing to drop it off within a couple hundred miles for 2 bucks a loaded mile. Feel free to message for a quote to your location. The local sale price for the car is 2500 and that price is firm. If someone wishes to purchase the car for this price we will end the auction on eBay. If you wish the car at a lesser price that may be possible in this auction format. The TT is being sold without reserve, the current high bidder is the winner if no further bids are placed. It would be unfair of us to sell the car at any price less than our original BIN price since cannot know what our bidders max bid might be prior to the end of the auction. Those familiar with eBay know that the BIN price is removed as soon as the item has either reached a reserve price or when there is no reserve an opening bid has been placed. As far as shipping, shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. The car is currently loaded on Main Line's ramp truck and they are prepared to deliver it up to 250 miles for $2/mile. Simply go to your map program and check the mileage from your location to 12977 times two and there is the price. Please check with us first if you are outside this radius, their range is limited to a day trip with this truck. We cannot do it for less. This is a separate transaction and that is their price. You may pick it up, get another shipper etc. Check around you may well find a cheaper way to get it home. We will assist you however possible with your shipping. Payment. We accept a $500 deposit by Pay Pal. Our best method of final payment is cash at pick up. Next best is money transfer, next best is Bank Check from a bank in our area that can be cashed. Purchase documents will be mailed to you if you wish. Overnight charges will apply if you wish them sent in that manner. We will not take Pay Pal as a final payment method.
